Job description

A well-established healthcare system in Worcester, Massachusetts is seeking an experienced otolaryngologist to provide weekend locum coverage for their busy hospital-based ENT service. This role focuses entirely on on-call responsibilities—there are no clinic duties—and offers the chance to extend beyond the initial assignment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide weekend call coverage for both adult and pediatric ENT patients.
  • Evaluate and manage ENT emergencies, inpatient consultations, and trauma-related cases.
  • Perform bedside procedures and operative interventions as clinically needed.
  • Collaborate closely with emergency medicine, hospitalists, surgical teams, and resident physicians.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation.

Assignment details

  • Dates: August – September 2026, with potential to extend.
  • Coverage: Two weekends per month.
  • Shift: Friday 4:00 PM through Monday 6:00 AM.
  • Setting: Hospital-based, on-site coverage.
  • Responsibilities: 100% on-call; no clinic duties. Surgical coverage expected.

Procedures you should be comfortable performing

  • Cerumen removal
  • Diagnostic laryngoscopy and nasal endoscopy
  • Excision of tongue fold lesions
  • Emergency ENT evaluations and interventions
  • Trauma-related ENT care

Qualifications

  • MD or DO.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Otolaryngology.
  • Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients; trauma experience required.
  • Active Massachusetts medical license is required prior to start (time-sensitive need).
  • DEA registration required.
