Job description

Position Summary

The Legal Assistant at Lorium Law provides essential administrative and legal support to attorneys, ensuring the efficient operation of case management, client communication, and document preparation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced legal environment. Legal Assistants serve as a critical part of the legal team, helping to maintain smooth workflows and excellent client service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

●       Assist attorneys in the preparation, formatting, and proofreading of legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, discovery, and correspondence.

●       Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, deadlines, hearings, and maintain case timelines.

●       File legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, both electronically and in person when required.

●       Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files and ensure all documents are accurately entered into the case management system.

●       Conduct limited legal research and gather relevant case materials as directed.

●       Serve as a point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court staff; handle routine communication and relay messages appropriately.

●       Prepare and process client billing, track time entries, and assist with expense reporting.

●       Coordinate with other departments (e.g., accounting, HR, IT) to support case and firm operations.

●       Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding firm and client matters.

●       Perform other administrative or case-related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

●       Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in legal studies, business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

●       Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative legal role.

●       Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and court systems.

●       Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.

●       Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

●       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

●       High level of professionalism and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

●       Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

●       Notary Public certification is a plus.
