  • Assist the crematory operator with crematory-related duties and general operations, as permitted by law and company policy.
  • Assist with the removal and transportation of deceased individuals from hospitals, nursing homes, hospice facilities, residences, and other locations.
  • Assist with transferring deceased individuals to and from funeral home vehicles, preparation areas, refrigeration, crematory, and other designated areas.
  • Perform general building, grounds, and facility maintenance.
  • Clean and maintain funeral home vehicles, equipment, preparation areas, crematory areas, and other facilities.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down chapels and visitation areas for funerals, memorial services, and visitations.
  • Move and arrange caskets, flowers, chairs, equipment, and other funeral service materials.
  • Assist funeral directors and staff during funeral and memorial services as needed.
  • Follow established procedures for sanitation, infection control, workplace safety, and the respectful handling of deceased individuals.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding deceased individuals and the families we serve.
  • Perform other funeral home and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Compassionate and able to maintain professionalism when working around grieving families.
  • Able to perform physical duties, including standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting with assistance and/or appropriate equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of duties, from funeral service assistance to cleaning and general maintenance.
  • Previous funeral home, removal service, maintenance, healthcare, or related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Training will be provided for appropriate job duties.
