SERVER POSITION
This position reports to: Owner, Front of House Director, Event Managers
STARTING RATE: $25.00/hr
Overview
We are an offsite catering company located in west Oakland, serving the greater Bay Area, from Napa to Silicon Valley.
Our professional, service-oriented staff create simple, rustic, and elegant presentations. We are looking for a motivated, career-focused server able to exceed guest expectations, for a hands-on role in event preparation and execution.
The position will require:
Help setup, and breakdown food and equipment
Load and unload company vehicles
Bussing
May require early morning & late night availability
Our ideal candidate will have:
1-3 years experience as event/restaurant server 
College degree, or equivalent experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Polished appearance and manners, and respectful approach
Remaining calm in stressful situations
Problem solving ability, and a sense of urgency in completing tasks
Excellent organization and time-management skills
Leadership skills with strong attention to detail
Availability days, evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Servsafe required within two weeks of hiring
Proficient in Google Suite
Able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion, and up to 35 pounds regularly
Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
Be attentive of guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant experience.
Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner.
Pre-bus all tables removing soiled dishes.
Ensure buffet tables are kept stocked, tidy and clean.
Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
ATTIRE REQUIREMENTS:
SHIRT: Black, collared, full sleeved, button up shirt: No transparent or “see-through” blouses, dresses, or shirts.
PANTS: Black slacks - full length with no holes. No baggy, wrinkled or sagging styles. No skinny jeans.
TIE: No tie is needed for events, unless specifically requested.
SHOES: Black shoes. Must be sturdy, closed toed. The sole is to be non-slip and heel no higher than 1 1/2 inches.
COLOGNE/PERFUME: Use of antiperspirant is recommended but use of scents and fragrances is unacceptable as people are sensitive to smell.
JEWELRY: Stud earrings may be worn in the earlobe. Dangle or hoop earrings are not allowed. No flashy jewelry.
FINGERNAILS: Clean and trimmed.
APRON: Bistro apron will be provided.
MAKEUP: Makeup is fine but must stay in natural tones and not overdone.
FOOD/BEVERAGES: Please come prepared with your own food and water. If staff meals are available, they will be offered.
PARKING: Parking is not paid for by company.
TRAVEL: Salt & Honey LLC does not pay for travel time to and from the venue and/or event.
LOAD IN/OUT: All team members will help with loading in and out of any and all trucks brought to the venue/event. This may include, but is not limited to, lifting heavy tubs, setting up buffet/bar/bussing station, etc.
BARTENDERS: All bartenders MUST be 21 years or older to work in this position. No one under 21 years of age will be allowed to serve alcohol, even if they are a server.
ALCOHOL/DRUGS POLICY: The Company explicitly prohibits:
The use, possession, solicitation for, or sale of narcotics or other illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication without a prescription on Company or client premises or while performing an assignment.
Being impaired or under the influence of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from the Company or customer premises, if such impairment or influence adversely affects the employee's work performance, the safety of the employee or of others, or puts at risk the Company's reputation.
Possession, use, solicitation for, or sale of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from the Company or customer premises, if such activity or involvement adversely affects the employee's work performance, the safety of the employee or of others, or puts at risk the Company's reputation.
The presence of any detectable amount of prohibited substances in the employee's system while at work, while on the premises of the company or its customers, or while on company business. "Prohibited substances" include illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription drugs not taken in accordance with a prescription given to the employee.
Please note, the ONLY exception to drinking alcohol on the job is the bartenders that are SERVING wine during the event. Bartenders are allowed to taste the wine/cocktail/beer that they are serving in order to give better tasting notes. This must happen before the event, during set up only – not in front of any guests or the client, with the Event Manager/Lead’s approval.
