Job description

Job Title: Estimator

Department: Preconstruction


Location: Tarpon Springs Office

Position Summary

The estimator is responsible for preparing sections of construction estimates, including but not limited to the soliciting and evaluation of subcontractor bids and scopes of work, preparing take-offs, and reviewing project plans and specifications for all categories of work. The Estimator must be a flexible, adaptable team player and have strong communication and client service skills. This role is based out of our Tarpon Springs, Florida office.

Job Specifications

  • Ability to read and understand Contract Drawings and Specifications
  • Ability to manage the complete bid process including general conditions
  • Perform quantity take-offs, experience with OnCenter OST preferred
  • Input take-off and manage pricing as directed; experience with Sage Estimating preferred
  • Create tab sheets for subcontractor quotes and bid leveling for a complete scope
  • Manage subcontractor solicitation
  • Update and post plans and specifications to SmartBid
  • Experience with estimates for CM / DB projects is a plus.
  • Experience drafting subcontractor scopes or work
  • Logical and organized approach to completing tasks and solving problems
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe, and plan viewing applications
  • Experience in bidding on local, state, and federal projects is required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Communication Skills Required

Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to present information to supervisors, groups of clients, top management, or team.

Experience Required

A minimum of 5 years in estimating/preconstruction

Expected Hours or Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are approximately Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Estimators are based out of the Tarpon Springs office and travel to the job sites, pre-bid, or client meetings as required.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction or a combined associate degree in construction with 5 years of practical experience

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
