Job description

Job Title: Electrical Designer
Location: Lockport, LA
Position Overview: An Electrical Designer uses research and experience to develop electrical designs and integrated drawings, model and extraction of product data into electrical production drawings. An Electrical Designer is expected to work with an Electrical Engineer group in accomplishing departmental goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs review of electrical drawings to provide feedback on safety, function, and contract requirements.

  • Develop and Maintain Integrated Cable Block Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Master Cable Schedule, and General Arrangements conforming to standard engineering design and customer specifications.

  • Conducting field inspections to ensure installation compliance with design specifications.

  • Reviews model and production drawings from other disciplines for compliance and integration with overall vessel systems.

  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  • Assist with building and insertion of Electrical Ship Constructor Parts.

  • Capturing Drawing impacts when changes are needed and performing updates for all applicable material.

  • Assist Functional Engineering Group to ensure Deliverables Support Production.

Qualifications: 1+ year(s) experience in Electrical marine design or equivalent or an associate's degree in relevant field (Ex: Drafting & Design)
Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess a high level of understanding for practices, standards, and principals used in electrical circuitry and systems.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex systems both physically and theoretically.

  • Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, IEC, ABS, CFR, & SOLAS.

  • Ability to create and review schematics and system diagrams from start to finish.

  • Working Knowledge of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. ).

  • Ability to use computer assisted engineering software (including 3D) and equipment in performing tasks.

  • Experience in working with vendor systems is preferred. Must be able to review vendor drawing and work with vendor to sufficiently integrate into design.
