Job description

The Electrical Designer will support the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for industrial plant projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams, this role is responsible for developing detailed electrical drawings and design documentation that meet client requirements, National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, and company drafting procedures. The Electrical Designer will also collaborate with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain detailed electrical engineering and construction drawings, including:
    • Single-line diagrams.
    • Panelboard layouts.
    • Conduit and cable tray plans, sections, and details in accordance with NEC requirements.
    • Conduit and cable schedules utilizing equipment layouts and vendor schematics.
    • Conduit block diagrams and interconnection diagrams based on equipment layouts and vendor terminal block information.
  • Develop and revise electrical design packages using AutoCAD and applicable client drafting standards.
  • Learn, apply, and maintain company and client-specific drafting procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with engineers, project managers, and designers from other disciplines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and current information throughout project development.
  • Conduct site visits to gather field information, verify existing conditions, and support project requirements. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the design, layout, and documentation of industrial electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Review vendor drawings, equipment data, and technical specifications for incorporation into project designs.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and quality oversight to junior designers and drafters as required to support project completion.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with established quality standards.
