Job description

Job Description Step into a high-impact contract role where your electrical design expertise directly shapes complex industrial projects across the Houston area. Join a collaborative engineering environment where you'll own critical design packages from concept through construction, working with cutting-edge tools and modular EPC methodologies. About the Role: As a Contract Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for developing detailed electrical power distribution designs and documentation that support large-scale industrial and commercial projects.

You will translate engineering concepts into accurate one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction-ready drawings, ensuring compliance with project standards and codes. Your work will be central to delivering safe, reliable, and constructible electrical systems within tight project timelines. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed electrical power distribution layouts, including one-line diagrams, schematics, and panel schedules for industrial and commercial projects.

Prepare complete construction drawing packages, including plans, sections, details, and schedules, using Autodesk AutoCAD and other design tools. Produce and update specifications, equipment lists, and design documentation in alignment with project and client standards. Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to coordinate electrical design with structural, mechanical, and modular plant layouts.

Apply EPC modular drafting practices to create modular skid and package layouts, routing, and connection details. Utilize SolidWorks to develop 3D models and assemblies for modular electrical systems and associated components. Review and incorporate redlines, field changes, and as-built information into design documents.

Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Key Requirements: Proven experience as an Electrical Designer working on power distribution projects in industrial or commercial environments. Strong proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD for electrical drafting and design.

Demonstrated ability to develop one-line diagrams, schematics, and detailed construction drawings with minimal supervision. Hands-on experience preparing electrical design specifications and documentation for EPC or similar project delivery models. Familiarity with modular drafting practices and coordination within multi-discipline project teams.

Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling of electrical components or modular systems. Strong understanding of relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices. Ability to manage multiple design tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project priorities.

Desirable Skills: Experience in large-scale industrial facilities such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or similar sectors. Background working within EPC firms or modular fabrication environments. Exposure to other CAD platforms or electrical design software tools.

Experience supporting field teams with design clarifications and as-built documentation. Familiarity with BIM workflows and coordination practices. Qualifications: Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Design, Drafting, or a related discipline.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar field preferred. Formal training or certification in Autodesk AutoCAD. Additional certification or coursework in SolidWorks or 3D CAD modeling considered an asset.

If you are a detail-driven Electrical Designer ready to contribute immediately on complex projects, apply now to explore this contract opportunity in Houston.
