Perinatal Sonographer

Full-Time | Reno, Nevada

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

No weekends. No call. Occasional overtime as needed.


Position Overview

A growing women’s health practice in Reno, Nevada is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Perinatal Sonographer to perform advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations in a maternal-fetal medicine setting. This role provides direct patient care and works under physician supervision to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging that supports optimal maternal and fetal outcomes.

The Perinatal Sonographer is responsible for the technical performance, quality assurance, and daily operational workflow of the sonography lab while maintaining a patient-centered approach to care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive obstetric and perinatal ultrasound examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Acquire and analyze sonographic data to produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with established examination protocols.
  • Generate accurate preliminary reports within the PACS system and communicate summary findings to the physician.
  • Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided obstetrical procedures.
  • Communicate with referring providers as required, following established clinical guidelines.
  • Maintain daily workflow, including scheduling coordination and related clerical responsibilities.
  • Prepare and clean examination rooms; ensure proper equipment care and sterilization as needed.
  • Monitor imaging equipment performance and report malfunctions promptly.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the examination process.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations.
  • Address patient concerns professionally and collaborate with the healthcare team to resolve care-related issues.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Promote effective communication between patients, physicians, and clinical staff.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Current certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) at time of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification from an accredited source.
  • Nasal Bone certification from an accredited source.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent obstetrics experience, preferably in a maternal-fetal medicine setting.

Preferred:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential.
  • Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification.
