Job description

The Supreme Court of Nevada is seeking a Clerk's Office Support Specialist to join the Clerk's Office in Carson City. This position provides administrative and operational support that is essential to the efficient operation of the Nevada Supreme Court. Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, the Clerk's Office Support Specialist assists management, deputy clerks, court staff, attorneys, and members of the public while ensuring court records and filings are processed accurately, confidentially, and in accordance with court rules and procedures.

Examples of Duties

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for attorneys, litigants, court staff, and the public by providing professional customer service in person, by telephone, and at the public counter.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls, provide procedural information, respond to routine inquiries, and maintain confidentiality of court records and information.
  • Assist deputy clerks with processing court documents, filings, receipts, and case-related materials.
  • Scan, file, proofread, copy, and distribute court documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court procedures.
  • Notify attorneys, parties, and court personnel of filed documents and retrieve court files, exhibits, correspondence, and archived records as requested.
  • Maintain physical and electronic court records, including filing, organizing, preserving, and retrieving records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Receive, sort, distribute, and prepare incoming and outgoing mail and assist with internal mail runs.
  • Enter filing fees and other payments into appropriate logs and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain office supplies and support the day-to-day administrative operations of the Clerk's Office.
  • Post court recordings to the Supreme Court's website.
  • Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least (2) years of progressively responsible administrative, clerical, customer service, records management, or office support experience.
  • Experience in a court, legal, or government office is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, records management, customer service practices, and basic financial recordkeeping.
  • Familiarity with court operations and legal terminology is desirable.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including attention to grammar, spelling, and detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other office technology, including document management, scanning, data entry, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service while interacting effectively with judges, court staff, attorneys, and members of the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and follow court rules, policies, and procedures.
