Job description

Perinatal Sonographer

Full Time • Permanent

Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm

Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm

No weekends • No call • Occasional scheduled overtime

Relocation to Reno, Nevada is required. Relocation assistance is not available.


Position Overview

The Perinatal Sonographer performs advanced obstetric sonographic examinations in collaboration with physicians and the maternal fetal medicine team. This role is responsible for acquiring and analyzing diagnostic ultrasound data, participating in obstetrical procedures requiring ultrasound guidance, and contributing to high quality patient care in a specialized women’s health setting.

The Sonographer functions with a high degree of clinical autonomy while working under physician supervision and in coordination with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position also supports daily laboratory operations, equipment performance, and quality assurance initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform all requested obstetric and perinatal sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician

• Utilize independent judgment and systematic problem solving to obtain high quality diagnostic imaging

• Generate reports within PACS and collaborate with physicians for interpretation

• Participate in ultrasound guided obstetrical procedures

• Provide preliminary findings to physicians to assist in diagnosis and management

• Contact referring providers as required per established protocol

• Prepare examination rooms, maintain equipment, and ensure sterilization standards

• Organize daily workflow and perform related clerical duties

• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout examinations

• Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations

• Maintain strict confidentiality and protect personal health information

• Serve as a liaison between physician and patient to promote clear communication

This position provides direct patient care.


Required Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology at time of hire

• AHA BLS certification

• Nasal Bone certification from an accredited source

• Nuchal Translucency certification from an accredited source

• Minimum two years of prior OB experience or experience in a Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic


Preferred Qualifications

• RVT registry

• Fetal Echocardiography certification


Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: $122,000 to $150,000 annually based on experience

• Sign On Bonus: Up to $30,000 total, paid out over three years
