Job Description

Helping Hearts USA LLC is seeking a highly dependable, nurturing, and attentive weekend nanny to support, in a structured and positive private-home environment.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and understands the importance of consistency, patience, emotional support, safety awareness, and age-appropriate engagement.

The selected candidate will help create a calm, organized, and encouraging setting where the child can learn, play, follow a routine, and feel supported throughout the day. This position requires someone who can take initiative, remain professional, communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

The weekend nanny will provide hands-on, observant, and proactive support during the shift. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide attentive, nurturing supervision throughout the entire shift and keep the child safe at all times.

  • Support early learning through alphabet practice, number recognition, reading, educational games, and structured play.

  • Encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, creativity, and age-appropriate independence.

  • Balance structured learning, free play, rest, meals, hygiene, and outdoor activities throughout the day.

  • Prepare lunch and dinner while keeping mealtime calm, safe, and consistent with family instructions.

  • Clean dishes, wipe counters, and reset the kitchen area after meals so the home remains tidy and organized.

  • Assist with bathing, hygiene routines, toileting support if needed, dressing, and general personal care with respect and patience.

  • Complete child-related laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting items away properly.

  • Keep the child’s bedroom, play area, and commonly used spaces neat, clean, safe, and age-appropriate.

  • Plan and supervise safe outdoor play, park visits, walks, or approved community activities when appropriate.

  • Use positive reinforcement, gentle redirection, patience, and calm communication when supporting behavior.

  • Provide clear updates regarding the child’s day, meals, activities, mood, behavior, routine changes, and any concerns.

Child Development and Engagement Expectations

The ideal nanny should be comfortable creating meaningful activities that support learning, social engagement, language development, confidence, and creativity.

This may include:

Requirements

All candidates must meet Helping Hearts USA LLC placement and onboarding standards before beginning an assignment.

Requirements include:

  • Must be a non-smoker for this placement.

  • Must successfully complete mandatory drug screening.

  • Must complete a background screening process in accordance with Helping Hearts USA LLC standards and applicable requirements.

  • Must provide accurate work history, childcare-related experience, and availability information.

  • Must provide professional references when requested.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Current and Valid Tennessee Drivers License.

  • Must be able to arrive on time for every scheduled shift.

  • Must maintain a working phone and remain reachable during scheduled assignment hours.

  • Must complete all required onboarding paperwork, orientation, and placement-related documentation before starting.

  • Must follow Helping Hearts policies related to professionalism, attendance, communication, confidentiality, privacy, safety, and client respect.

  • Must maintain appropriate boundaries and protect the privacy of the child and family.

  • Must promptly report schedule concerns, incidents, safety issues, concerns in the home, or changes in the child’s condition, mood, behavior, or routine.

  • Must follow family-specific care instructions and any additional guidance provided by Helping Hearts or the responsible party.

  • Must be able to work in a home setting with respect for the family’s space, belongings, routines, and expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Current or prior school, daycare, child education, nanny, tutoring, or child development experience.

  • Experience working with children in a structured environment.

  • A mature, responsible, and organized approach to caregiving.

  • Ability to balance learning, routine, play, and safety.
