Job description

Columbia River Catholic (Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Mission) is looking for a full-time, paid intern for Summer 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a young adult man or woman 19 years and older seeking hands-on parish ministry experience. The summer internship will include assisting Evangelization Team staff with the implementation of summer programming, conference support, ministry ownership, sacramental coordination experiences, communication, outreach, and behind the scenes clerical work. Some weekend and evening work will be required, as well as regular office hours. Spiritual development, support, and one-on-one mentorship will be an integral part of this position.
Summary:
Assist with the preparation for and leading of Middle School Intensive and Vacation Bible School, shadowing a staff member at every stage of development. Work with a staff member to co-lead a high school group attending a summer conference (Ignite NW at the University of Portland) Assist with various sacramental and liturgical events, possibly including infant baptism weekend, a wedding, OCIA sessions, etc. while shadowing a staff member. Various clerical and organizational duties, including ordering materials and paperwork, creating and overseeing advertising and communication strategies for programs and events, utilizing our parish census management software (ParishStaq) with the tutelage of a staff member, making phone calls to parishioners, etc. Attend and participate in our summer Forming Intentional Disciples book study Regularly attend one of the weekend Masses at Holy Redeemer, daily Mass 2x a week, and a weekly holy hour Participate in regular staff meetings, including one on one check in meetings with a staff member. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Practicing Catholic 19 years old or older
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about teaching and sharing the Catholic faith
  • Maintains confidentiality when appropriate
  • Friendly, service-oriented demeanor with great customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with common word processing and spreadsheet software as well as the ability to learn new software systems, with training

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
