What is a website redesign?

A Website Redesign job involves updating the visual appearance, structure, and functionality of an existing website to improve user experience, performance, and alignment with current branding or business goals. This process may include changes to the site’s layout, navigation, content, and backend technology. The goal is to create a more modern, responsive, and user-friendly website that meets client objectives and industry standards.

What are some of the most common challenges faced during a website redesign project?

One of the most common challenges in website redesign is balancing the needs of various stakeholders while ensuring a cohesive user experience. You may encounter tight project deadlines, unexpected technical roadblocks, or difficulty migrating legacy content and features to a new platform. Effective communication with cross-functional teams—including marketing, IT, and content creators—can help address these issues early. Staying organized and adaptable is key to managing these challenges and delivering an improved website that meets both user expectations and business objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the website redesign position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Website Redesign, a strong background in web design, user experience (UX), and front-end development is essential, often supported by a degree in design, computer science, or a related field. Fluency with design tools (such as Adobe XD or Figma), content management systems (like WordPress or Drupal), and familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills set outstanding candidates apart. These abilities are crucial for crafting modern, user-friendly websites that meet both client requirements and organizational goals.

Job description

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
The internationally renowned Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) has received "highest praise for their technical aplomb, their musicality, and their sheer human authenticity." (Bloomberg News). Founded in 1980, the Dance Group performs the repertory of choreographer Mark Morris, hailed as the "the most successful and influential choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical" (The New York Times), whose work is acclaimed for its ingenuity, musicality, wit, and humanity. Live music and community engagement are vital components of the Dance Group. It has toured with its own musicians, the MMDG Music Ensemble, since 1996, and regularly collaborates with orchestras and opera companies around the world. In addition to 12 full-time dancers, the organization currently employs approximately 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.
In the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District, the Mark Morris Dance Center, founded in 2001, is the hub of dance and music education in Brooklyn. The nine-studio building provides affordable classes in multiple genres for people of all ages, levels, with and without disabilities, accompanied by live music.
