Job description

Filevine is a Legal AI company delivering Legal Operating Intelligence for the future of legal work. Grounded in a singular system of truth, Filevine brings together data, documents, workflows, and teams into one unified platform-where modern legal work happens with clarity and consistency.
Powered by LOIS, the Legal Operating Intelligence System, Filevine connects context across every matter to transform legal operations from reactive to proactive. LOIS reads, understands, and reasons across your data to surface insight, automate complexity, and give professionals the clarity and confidence to see more, know more, and do more. Fueled by a team of exceptional collaborators and innovators, Filevine's rapid growth has earned AI awards and recognition from Deloitte and Inc. as one of the most innovative and fastest-growing technology companies in the country.
The Opportunity
AI is reshaping every industry, and legal is no exception. Filevine is at the center of that transformation and the stories we tell about it matter. We're looking for a Content Director to own the voice, strategy, and output that establishes Filevine as the authoritative brand in legal AI.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll set editorial direction across the full marketing program, manage a content strategy tied to business outcomes, and directly lead staff copywriters and contractors. You'll write, edit, direct, and build content by working at the intersection of brand, product marketing, and demand gen to produce content that earns attention and drives pipeline.
The right candidate understands that in a category being defined in real time, the best content wins. They bring editorial judgment, AI fluency, and the operational discipline to ship great work consistently; and they know that writing for legal professionals requires a different level of precision and authority than writing for most other audiences.
What You'll Do
Own the Content Strategy
  • Define and execute Filevine's content strategy. Setting the editorial direction across blog, thought leadership, case studies, research reports, email, social, and sales enablement
  • Build and manage the content calendar, aligning every piece of output to campaign priorities, product launches, demand gen timelines, and key moments in the legal AI conversation
  • Develop and steward Filevine's editorial voice. Ensure that our content sounds authoritative, distinct, and human across every channel and format
  • Establish Filevine as the go-to voice in legal AI through turning product launches, customer wins, and company moments into valuable and sharable content on a variety of channels
  • Develop thought leadership for Filevine and our executives, positioning them as credible voices in legal technology and AI
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Demand Gen, and Sales to translate strategy into content that moves buyers through the funnel

Lead the Team
  • Directly manage staff copywriters. Provide clear editorial direction, honest feedback, and clear growth paths
  • Set quality standards and build workflows that help the team produce excellent work without burning out
  • Build and manage a flexible network of freelance writers, subject matter contributors, and content specialists
  • Cultivate a team culture where craft is taken seriously, experimentation is encouraged, and deadlines are non-negotiable

Drive Performance and Operations
  • Own content performance by tracking what resonates, using data to inform editorial decisions, and reporting on content's contribution to pipeline and brand awareness
  • Optimize content for AEO / SEO / GEO, ensuring Filevine's content earns visibility wherever legal professionals are searching
  • Lead content repurposing and distribution strategy. Getting more out of every asset by meeting audiences where they are
  • Implement and maintain editorial workflows and tooling that give visibility into the full content pipeline
  • Integrate AI writing and production tools thoughtfully. Use them to accelerate output without compromising voice, accuracy, or brand integrity

Who You Are
Required
  • 8+ years of experience in content marketing, copywriting, or editorial roles with a track record of producing high-quality written content at volume in B2B tech
  • A genuine writing background: you've worked as a copywriter or content writer and can still do the work, not just manage it
  • Demonstrated experience owning content strategy and an editorial calendar in a fast-moving B2B SaaS or technology environment
  • Proven ability to manage and develop other writers, with a direct, constructive editorial style
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of AEO / GEO / AI-driven discovery, including structured answers, topical authority, and what it takes to earn visibility and citation in AI search
  • Practical fluency with AI content tools. You should know how use them in your workflow and have thought carefully about where they help and where they don't
  • Data-informed editorial instincts: you track what's working, use it to guide decisions, and can speak to content's impact in business terms
  • Strong portfolio of B2B content. Please include writing samples or a link to your work in your application

Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in legal technology, legal services, or professional services
  • JD or legal background. A meaningful differentiator for someone who will be writing for and about legal professionals every day
  • Experience creating executive thought leadership content, including ghostwriting for senior leaders
  • Familiarity with social-first content strategy, particularly for LinkedIn in a B2B context

Location
This role may be hybrid or remote, with in-person collaboration expected for key team milestones, campaigns, and events. Location flexibility is available for exceptional candidates
Compensation Information: $170,000-210,000
