Job description

Job title: Content Strategist
Location: Remote (Ideal timezone CST or EST due to calls we have with the UK + EU)
Type of work: Remote full-time
Salary expectations: $60,000 - $80,000
Ideal experience: 3 - 5 years in marketing
Ideal start date: 1st July (although this is flexible)
About the position
Mint Studios is a content marketing agency that helps fintech companies like Primer, Yapily, SAP Fioneer, WorldFirst, and many more financial companies acquire customers and position themselves as experts with content. We help fintech companies turn their blog into a customer acquisition channel with our four step framework:
  1. Alignment on commercial outcomes from content marketing
  2. A content strategy focused on the Bottom of the Funnel and based on customer research
  3. Content based on interviews and written for the level of the reader
  4. Tracking and reporting commercial outcomes

We're looking for a full-time remote content strategist who will lead content strategy for multiple clients. In this role, you'll be the client's main point of contact: leading strategy and working closely with Araminta (our founder), Elliot (content strategist), Denisa (content strategist) and the wider team of strategists and writers. Our goal is to help our clients achieve a key outcome: acquire customers with content.
You don't have to have a background in fintech or financial services - we can teach you that. What we really value is attitude, great writing and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities
Your role is to be a trusted advisor to our clients, creating and executing on strategies that help them acquire customers with content.
Here are the key activities you'll do as a content strategist:
  • Content strategy & performance: Generate monthly content ideas aligned with client goals, ensure visibility in AI search/LLMs, monitor results (traffic, acquisition, rankings), and present outcomes in Looker dashboards.
  • Content production process: Lead expert interviews, prep questions, set up Trello workflows, and coordinate writers through drafts to final Clearscope-optimized articles.
  • Editing & publishing: Edit and finalize drafts, manage client feedback, and upload polished articles into the client's CMS.
  • Client management: Run weekly/fortnightly calls, provide Friday status updates, handle questions, and push back on out-of-scope requests.
  • Writing: We encourage all our strategists to continue to invest in their writing craft which is why our Content Strategies will also often write content for clients and/or for Mint.
  • Team collaboration & growth: Join Mint Studios strategy calls, brainstorm solutions, and participate in monthly one-on-ones to support career development.

What we're looking for
You don't have to have a background in fintech - we can teach you that. What we really value is attitude, great writing and strategic thinking.
These are the 7 characteristics of the best team members that we work with at Mint Studios:
  1. You have clarity of thought. You can put together logical arguments in the written form and when you don't understand something you'll take the time to understand it.
  2. You are inherently curious. You want to understand a topic inside out. You'll do the right amount of research and ask the right questions till you feel confident writing and talking about the topic.
  3. You are detail oriented. You care about delivering something great, even when no one is watching.
  4. You're constantly thinking of the bigger picture. You like to understand how the content in the interview fits into the product, the client, and the strategy.
  5. You take responsibility for your skillset. You're always trying to become a better writer and are open to new processes and ways of working.
  6. You are empathetic. You can put yourself in the shoes of the reader and of the client. You try to understand their perspective and will ask questions if you don't.
  7. You like working with smart, fun and collaborative people where you are supported and your career is developed!

The role might not be a good fit for you if...
  • You don't enjoy explaining complex topics.
  • You are a creature of habit and prefer to stick to your own writing processes or are not open to learning new processes.
  • You don't enjoy the research process (understanding the topic, product and the content strategy in depth, listening to and analysing the interview for the main takeaways, etc).
  • You don't like asking for advice, asking questions or you are not comfortable with feedback.
  • You are not interested in improving your writing or strategy skills

What will you gain by working at Mint Studios?
There's a lot we can say you'll benefit from by working at our company, but there are three in particular that stand out:
1. You will learn how to grow a business online. At Mint, you won't be just writing pretty articles. You're actively helping companies acquire customers, and therefore grow, online. It's an invaluable skillset that you'll have for the rest of your life. If you're obsessed with digital marketing and online customer acquisition, you'll love what we do here.
2. You will have autonomy. For the first 6 months or so, we'll be training you on every part of our methodology. But after that, once you have a strong understanding of our methodology and how to execute it, you'll have the freedom to test and try new things. Marketing is ultimately about experimenting, so we encourage everyone on the team to try new tactics, think of ways to improve processes. This way you'll also learn a lot.
3. You will be part of the AI vanguard and learn AI-related skills. AI is becoming a bigger part of everyone's work and we know that at Mint. It's part of our business to be on top of AI as it evolves, and we're constantly experimenting along with our clients on how to improve visibility in LLMs, what new AI content workflows could work and also when not to use AI. You'll be learning a lot about AI, which will also give you invaluable skills for the future.
Compensation and benefits of working with Mint Studios
  • 32 days holidays (inc. public holidays)
  • Work from wherever
  • $400 per month stipend for co-working space
  • Yearly team off-site somewhere nice (Past trips: Barcelona, Milan, Faro and Alicante)
  • Health, vision and dental insurance
  • Company laptop
  • You don't have to know about financial services (but you do have to be willing to learn). We value good writing more.
  • You'll be able to see how your content delivers impact and helps our clients acquire customers.
  • We give a lot of detailed feedback. You won't get vague feedback like "can you make this less confusing?". We try to make our feedback to the point and we'll always look for ways to improve the article ourselves (so you're not left coming up with alternatives alone).
Our interview process
1. Apply: We encourage you to apply, even if you don't feel 100% confident.
2. Screening call: If we're interested in your application, we'll reach out for a short introductory call.
3. Paid writing test: We value the effort and expertise that goes into writing which is why we pay our interviewees to complete a paid writing test as part of the interviewing process. The article is 500 - 1,000 words and the rate of pay is $200 for your submission.
4. Paid project: If you proceed to the next stage, we'll ask you to complete a short strategy project, where you'll create a hypothetical strategy for a hypothetical client. We'll also pay our interviewees $200 for this effort.
5. Final interview: We'll do one last interview, if possible, in person in the US (travel reimbursed). This is an opportunity to spend some time together to get a mutual feel for cultural fit.
6. Offer: You'll get an email with your job offer.
7. You're in! Welcome to the team!
What happens once you're hired?
You'll be given a 30/60/90-day plan that will help you get up to speed on the business and your role and help you carve out your unique path to success.
The first 60 days will mainly involve you writing articles and content for clients. This is so you get up to speed with our approach to writing and we can train you on our methodology.
After that, you'll start doing the strategy working directly with clients. First you'll be shadowing one of the existing strategists so you learn the ropes of strategy, and then eventually you'll lead the clients yourself.
You'll have one-on-ones with Araminta every month to ensure you're making progress in your career and professional development.
About Mint Studios
Mint Studios is a content marketing agency that helps financial companies acquire customers and position themselves as experts with content.
Our main differentiation point from other agencies is that we create content that is optimised for conversions and leads, not just traffic. We do this by creating Bottom of the Funnel content, which involves understanding our client's ideal customer and creating content that is designed to sell, not entertain. You can learn more about BOFU here: What is BOFU (Bottom of the Funnel) Content and Why Is it Important?
Although we only work with financial companies, these range from crypto, to budgeting apps, to enterprise payments companies and consultancies. You won't be leading strategy and writing about the same topics over and over again.
These are some examples of BOFU content we've written for clients:
  • Advertise on Sites Like NerdWallet or Bankrate as a Fintech or Bank: How to Get Started
  • Payment initiation service: What you need to know
  • What you need to know about pricing models in SaaS payments
  • Global ID verification: How to get it right with Persona
