Role/Department: Senior Specialist, Wealth Management Marketing


The Senior Specialist, Wealth Management Marketing is responsible for implementing marketing strategy across dedicated markets with a focus on planning and executing high-profile client experiences, sponsorships, and strategic philanthropy programs. Serves as the lead owner for select regional flagship events, overseeing strategy, planning, execution, measurement, and stakeholder management from concept through post-event evaluation. Supports digital marketing initiatives, lead generation efforts, and performance tracking. Partners closely with sales staff, marketing leadership, relationship managers, and external partners to deliver marketing programs that strengthen client relationships, enhance brand presence, and support business growth.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
Operates independently and maintains in-depth knowledge of Wealth Management clients, business priorities, and marketing strategies.
Leads the strategy, planning, and execution of select high-profile client experiences, sponsorships, and strategic philanthropy programs, serving as the primary owner from concept development through post-event evaluation.
Establishes and promotes best practices for event strategy, client experience, and program execution, helping elevate the quality and consistency of regional marketing initiatives.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously, driving timelines, stakeholder alignment, logistics, and execution across assigned markets.
Oversees marketing budgets, including annual forecasting, monthly reconciliation, expense management, and reporting to local leadership.
Partners with Relationship Managers, Market Leaders, and sales teams to identify business priorities and develop marketing programs that support growth, client engagement, and brand awareness.
Leverages Salesforce and other marketing technologies to measure engagement, track ROI, monitor business results, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Develops and executes digital marketing, lead generation, and audience development initiatives in partnership with regional and national marketing teams.
Creates and coordinates market-facing communications, leadership messaging, public relations activities, and promotional content in alignment with firm and business objectives.
Builds and manages relationships with vendors, venues, sponsorship partners, publications, and community organizations to deliver effective programs in a cost-conscious manner.
Collaborates across Wealth Management, product, sales, and marketing teams to gather insights, share best practices, and ensure marketing activities support broader business objectives.


Skills/Qualifications:

Ability to travel occasionally (possibly 2 to 3 times a quarter)
5-7 years of marketing, event management, business development, or related experience, preferably within financial services or another relationship-driven industry.
Knowledge of marketing principles and client engagement strategies acquired through education and relevant work experience.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple high-profile initiatives, competing priorities, and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex events and marketing programs from concept through execution, measurement, and post-event evaluation.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create compelling client-facing content and effectively communicate with senior business leaders.
Ability to build strong relationships and influence partners across sales, relationship management, product, and marketing teams.
Experience using data and analytics to measure marketing effectiveness, evaluate ROI, and inform future decision-making.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, as well as Adobe Creative Suite or comparable tools.

Experience with Salesforce, Marketo, event management platforms, or other marketing technology solutions preferred.

A College or University degree and/or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

Salary Range:

$95,600 - 162,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
