About the role

The Operations Supervisor - Wastewater is responsible for directing and overseeing daily wastewater treatment plant operations. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient treatment of wastewater in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Key priorities include personnel safety, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and achieving daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The supervisor is responsible for operational data entry (NetSuite or equivalent systems), monitoring plant performance, and maintaining accurate records. This position also plays a critical leadership role in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members while fostering a strong safety and compliance culture.

Job Duties:

Be a Champion of Safety:

  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture across all wastewater operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
  • Identify hazards, enforce safe work practices, and support incident prevention initiatives.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals and wastewater materials.

Organize & Plan Production:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee daily wastewater treatment operations to optimize system performance and capacity.
  • Direct and coordinate staff activities to ensure proper operation of treatment systems.
  • Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the plant to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
  • Perform, delegate, and supervise preventive maintenance and housekeeping of the plant and equipment daily.
  • Enter accurate daily data into NetSuite for waste tracking, regulatory, and billing review.

Wastewater Treatment & Process Control

  • Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes including physical and chemical systems.
  • Adjust process parameters (e.g., pH, flow, chemical dosing) to maintain optimal treatment performance.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to maintain system stability.

Quality Control & Assurance

  • Responsible for receiving, tracking, and material compliance.
  • Conduct laboratory analytical testing for product quality assurance/control and routine testing.
  • Review and analyze inbound/new steams to facility operating permits.
  • Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances as directed and take corrective actions.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure daily compliance with all facility operating permits (Solid Waste and/or state, county, federal wastewater acceptance and discharge regulations).

People Excellence:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to wastewater process technicians and support staff.
  • Train employees on wastewater treatment processes, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in supervising production employees preferably in environmental services or similar industry.
  • Previous experience in Wastewater Treatment (WWT), material handling or similar operations.
  • Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
  • Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and suggest improvements.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $69,100.00 - $91,900.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
