Maintenance Technician

Location: Chicagoland Area - Field-based
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Schedule: Full-Time | Weekend availability required
Travel: Company provided vehicle for travel between WashU locations
Pay: $55,000 annually + comprehensive benefits package

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the upkeep, functionality, and safety of car wash equipment and facilities across multiple WashU locations throughout the Chicagoland area. This is a hands on, field based role focused on keeping equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently while minimizing downtime.

Day to day, the Maintenance Technician will travel between WashU locations in a company provided vehicle to perform preventative maintenance, inspect and service equipment, troubleshoot issues, and complete routine repairs. This includes working with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems, replacing worn or damaged components, and identifying potential problems before they lead to equipment failures.

The Maintenance Technician will also respond to maintenance needs reported by site teams, assist with larger repairs and equipment installations, maintain tools and parts, and document completed work. By keeping our equipment and facilities in excellent working condition, this role plays an important part in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring each WashU location consistently delivers a high quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on car wash equipment and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic equipment
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before they cause downtime
  • Assist with equipment repairs, installations, and replacement of components
  • Respond to maintenance needs at WashU locations throughout the Chicagoland area
  • Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance and repairs
  • Help maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Keep equipment rooms and maintenance areas clean and organized
  • Follow company safety procedures and proper equipment maintenance practices
  • Maintain a safe working environment across all sites
Qualifications

Successful candidates typically have:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow equipment manuals, diagrams, and maintenance procedures
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and repair techniques
  • Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and around operating equipment
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work weekends and travel between WashU locations as needed

Other preferred qualification include:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, automotive repair, manufacturing, construction, or equipment repair
  • Experience in performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting equipment
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, or mechanical repair experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
