Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist (Computational).

New York University Langone Health is a world-class, patient-centered, integrated, academic medical center, and one of the nation's premier centers for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research and medical education. The Applied Bioinformatics Laboratories (ABL) and the Department of Pathology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and creative individual to join our team as a Research Scientist (Computational) to work on a variety of high-impact research projects.

Candidates possessing a strong computational and structural biology background combined with a good understanding of molecular biology will be especially well suited to fill this position, including background in systems biology, machine learning, regulatory/signaling networks and related sciences.

The successful candidate will use structural and mathematical modeling to predict how genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic variability affects physiologic or pathologic phenotypes; and develop new methods and technologies for elucidating biological mechanisms at the systems level; the types of data sets to be analyzed will include single-cell proteogenomic and spatial transcriptomic data, as well as somatical mutational and proteomic datasets. The candidate will also be responsible for the customization of computational pipelines to expedite data integration.

Job Responsibilities:

* Support the team in its common research goals * Present results of analyses to team members * Analyze various types of sequencing data * Develop and learn new methods for multi-omics data analysis and integration with structural data * Use statistical and machine learning methods for data analysis and presentation * Perform different types of data analysis relating to genomics-based approaches utilized by various laboratories in a largely independent fashion * Manuscript preparation * Ability to work on multiple projects; participate in and perform other related duties as require * Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills with proficiency in written and oral English
Knowledge of standard computer languages, including R, Java, python, and C/C++
Familiarity with processing large genomic data sets and with a variety of reverse engineering techniques, including optimization-based, statistical, and integrative approaches
Familiarity with structural protein modeling, network biology algorithms, as well as with the underlying biological knowledge related to protein structure and function is critical to be considered for this position, as is knowledge of the foundations of machine learning and probability theory
Strong project management skills and demonstrated mentoring skills with students
PhD in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Computer Science or related field

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $90,000.00 - 120,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
