Job Summary:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a key role responsible for leading and optimizing manufacturing engineering processes within a production environment. This position involves applying engineering principles to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing operations. Position is equally responsible for assisting in planning, and coordinating manufacturing processes and capital investment in industrial plant setting by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop work instructions for each manufacturing process and train personnel where applicable
  • Oversee tooling builds internally & externally.
  • Coordinate design and build capital investment projects leading the reviews, tracking financials, and ensuring investments come in on time and on budget.
  • Complete design reviews with outside sources as necessary
  • Coordinate review and approval of initial production samples
  • Develop supplier drawings for communication purposes
  • Participate in supplier quality audits
  • Participate in cost savings projects
  • Implement new concepts to reduce product cost
  • Consolidate/Standardize variation in processes and equipment.
  • Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes where needed.
  • Assist engineering department with all data management, engineering changes, and all other related engineering documentation when needed.
  • Design/Oversee all work piece holding fixtures for all processes in 3D CAD
  • Coordinate required reviews with the customer (manufacturing departments).
  • Coordinate build efforts and manage to program timeline
  • Research and purchase required outside tooling when needed
  • Perform tooling & process studies and coordinate process improvements
  • Work with Quality Department to finalize control plans.
  • Work with departments to develop all inspection check sheets per operation
  • Final review and sign-off of all inspection check sheets
  • Oversee entire APQP effort on all new product builds which will include the following:
  • Manage all new product kick-off meetings with pertinent departments
  • Monitor the progress of new product launches to their timelines.
  • Develop program timelines and priorities workload to meet schedule needs
  • Report program status and action items to management on scheduled basis
  • Oversee and coordinate the manufacturing of all in-house tooling, fixtures, masks, etc. (processes could be washing, cleaning, blasting, extrusion, calendaring, sparying, rubber molding, assembly)

Education & Experience

Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Lean 6 Sigma methodologies, project management, rubber manufacturing, CNC programming/machining and machine building/automation is preferred, but not required.
