This position is responsible for setting the distribution strategy and delivering execution in support of that strategy. This means driving consistency and alignment across the Ship Centers network, which allows the Ship Centers to efficiently ship products to our customers that meet their expectations. The VP is responsible for all facets of product flow, leadership, financial performance, and inventory control across our network of retail ship centers and e-commerce operations. The position applies a combination of strategic, operational, analytical, and leadership skills to deliver world-class service while ensuring the end-to-end supply chain continually provides cost leverage to the organization.

In addition to leading the ship center teams, this role has responsibility for our supply chain solutions team that drives best practice execution across the network, identifies ways to drive additional throughput from the network, and manages key cross-functional inputs to understand network capacity along with key tradeoffs. This role will also guide future network investments, including technology, such as robotics, and physical facility expansions and growth.

This position partners cross-functionally with both key internal and external stakeholders to develop supply chain and business strategies that optimize end-to-end product flow. This position is critical in ensuring the ship centers execute against these strategies in a consistent way across the network. The VP, Distribution position will build and execute against a multi-year business and people strategy roadmap to support future business growth in all sales channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

  • Responsible for partnering with both Supply Chain and business leaders across the organization in the development of key distribution plans & strategies
  • Identify solutions to leverage the current infrastructure of existing facilities to drive operational improvements through the end-to-end supply chain
  • Leads with an enterprise mindset to optimize all facets of product flow while understanding key business tradeoffs in the pursuit of service, cost, and quality
  • Lead the identification and selection of new technologies, including robotics and AI, to drive improved productivity and speed to market in the distribution network

Operational Excellence

  • Responsible for the development of the annual budget and forecasting processes
  • Identify opportunities to optimize operations, while reducing waste, to ensure ship centers deliver year-over-year productivity improvements to meet or exceed budgets
  • In partnership with local site leadership, develop consistent plans with the ship centers to deliver against key service initiatives throughout the business
  • Maintain cost controls for all components of the ship center budget to meet or exceed financial targets
  • Develop peak season product flow plans in partnership with merchandising, inventory management, and stores
  • Optimize the flow of product from ship centers to stores to drive network efficiency, including the stores, and meet key service targets for product sets in stores

People Leadership

  • In partnership with local site leadership, ensure the buildings are establishing a culture that mixes accountability and fun, to deliver results
  • Responsible for developing key Supply Chain talent in alignment with long-term talent and succession planning goals, ultimately enabling best-in-class cross-functional partnership with other parts of the supply chain and business
  • Establish the right safety and compliance culture to meet best-in-class targets

Cross-Functional Communication and Partnership

  • Serve as the single point of contact for ship centers across the business, including representing the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Provide key updates to supply chain leadership, cross-functional partners, and executive leadership
  • Partner with key leaders across the organization to roll out technological solutions and enhancements that improve the process
  • Communicate and partner in a proactive manner to influence and enable proactive planning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of experience in a retail supply chain environment, with experience managing multiple facilities, is required
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a related field
  • Experience executing supply chain strategy initiatives, network design, and achievement of financial goals in a high-growth retail environment is preferred
  • Proven project management acumen via a strong track record of delivering complex projects to meet business goals, on time and on budget
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting and sometimes competing priorities
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams, including bench strength, with clear succession planning
  • Understanding and experience with the robotics and AI marketplace to lead strategic investments
  • Ability to travel to facilities on a routine basis
