Baby2Baby is a national non-profit organization that provides children in need with diapers, formula, clothing, and the basic necessities that every child deserves, serving more than one million children across all 50 states every year. Over the past 14 years, Baby2Baby has distributed over 500 million items– more than any organization of its kind – to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals, and underserved schools as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster. Position Overview

As Baby2Baby continues to experience exciting growth, we are seeking a driven, creative, and collaborative development professional to help guide our fundraising strategy and lead an engaged team of development staff.

The Vice President of Development will be instrumental in expanding and strengthening the organization's fundraising efforts, supporting a departmental goal of generating over $20 million annually. This role oversees individual, foundation, and grant-based fundraising, while corporate partnerships—both in-kind and monetary—are managed by our Corporate Partnerships department. This VP will partner closely with this department to ensure alignment across all revenue streams. This role will focus on best practices in fundraising operations with an emphasis on improving all processes and communications, and partnering with the Co-CEOs, development department and cross departmental teams to ensure continued revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, able to navigate challenges with flexibility while driving results.

The Vice President of Development will be responsible for ensuring the Development team operates efficiently, meets established goals, and adheres to best practices in major and leadership gift fundraising.

This Vice President, Development will work Monday-Friday at 5830 W.Jefferson Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016. The work is performed in an office setting and is currently in office on site at least 3-5 days per week. This is evolving and subject to change.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main Position Objectives

  • Executes a development strategy that drives achievement of organizational goals, including the $20M+ departmental target.
  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Development team, fostering a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative department.
  • Aligns development strategy with organizational priorities in partnership with the Co-CEOs and senior leadership, ensuring efficient, data-driven operations.

Development Strategy, Team Management and Leadership

  • Develops and implements a multi-channel development plan that supports sustainable growth, deepens donor engagement, and achieves annual targets.
  • Provides leadership and strategic oversight of the Development team, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven culture.
  • Supervises and develops the team to ensure adoption of best practices, professional growth, accountability and collaboration within the team and across departments.
  • Assess existing development strategy and identifies opportunities for revenue growth, increased ROI, improved communications and overall execution.
  • Oversees workflows and processes, including setting clear goals and KPIs to ensure the department operates efficiently and is aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborates with finance leadership around budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Major and Leadership Gifts

  • Guides the development team in implementing best practices for major and leadership gift donors and prospects, including Board and Angels.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of donors (individuals, foundations) focusing on six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Overse portfolio management and prospect research, ensuring strategic cultivation solicitation, stewardship and tracking of donors and prospects.
  • Provides strategic input and support around the development of the Baby2Baby case for support, proposals and donor communications.

Development Operations

  • Oversees the infrastructure, systems, and processes that support fundraising, ensuring donor data integrity, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitors key operational workflows — including gift processing, acknowledgment timelines, and reporting — providing leadership, oversight, and accountability.
  • Leads prospect development and portfolio-building strategy, leveraging wealth screenings, donor/relationship tracking, and data analysis to drive cultivation plans and strengthen the major gifts pipeline.
  • Implements reporting and analytics to measure performance, optimize portfolios, and inform strategy.

Capital Campaign

  • As the campaign lead, guides the Development team in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding campaign prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Collaborates across the organization to ensure donor communications, events, and collateral align with campaign goals.
  • Serves as the internal liaison for campaign consultants and external partners, ensuring seamless coordination and execution.
Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff in a goal-driven environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to quickly translate plans into action.
  • Experience with diverse fundraising channels including individuals, foundations, corporations, and events.
  • Frontline fundraising experience and proven success soliciting major gifts ($100K+).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Strong knowledge of Los Angeles and New York philanthropic communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale fundraising events and major gift pipeline development.
  • Experience with Capital Campaign fundraising.
  • Experience working for organizations serving low-income communities or providing basic essentials.

This role's salary range is between $160k – $200k. Actual salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
