The Vice President, Event Management role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to assume a wide range of responsibilities and make a significant impact. The Vice President, Event Management will lead the design and execution of high-impact firm events that strengthen our culture, deepen client relationships and elevate the Portage Point brand. This individual will serve as the strategic architect behind our most important internal and external experiences, from executive offsites and client experiences to firmwide celebrations and milestone gatherings. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and partnering closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) the Vice President, Event Management will shape and execute an event strategy that supports business development, brand growth and internal relationship building. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of strategic vision and operational precision. This is a highly visible role that requires collaboration with senior executives, cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure every event is executed flawlessly. As the firm continues to grow, the scope and complexity of events will expand, providing significant opportunity for professional advancement and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual events calendar encompassing both internal and external firm events that aligns with business development, marketing and employee engagement objectives
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing and CRO to design and deliver client events that strengthen relationships and elevate the Portage Point brand
  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution for internal events such as the Annual Team Meeting, Managing Director Offsite, End-of-Year Team Meeting and Holiday Party
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection / sourcing / management, vendor selection, contract negotiation, budgeting and onsite execution
  • Ensure every internal and external event reflects Portage Point's brand voice, values and visual standards
  • Track and manage event budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and accurate forecasting
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, analyzing performance metrics, feedback and return on investment (ROI) to identify improvements
  • Collaborate with team members, as needed, for day-of execution and logistical coordination, ensuring seamless communication and continuity
  • Create and maintain event standard operating procedures (SOPs), approval workflows and communication protocols
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices and trends in event strategy, hospitality and client engagement
  • Support the Marketing team with other strategic initiatives as needed
  • Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program
  • Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York
  • Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willingness to travel, approximately 20% to 25%, to execute events in multiple markets
  • Six plus years of experience and at least four years in investment banking, professional services or private equity
  • Proven success developing event strategies that align with business development, client engagement, brand and internal engagement objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to work with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to drive consensus, decision-making and flawless event execution
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects, priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience building and managing six-figure event budgets, negotiating vendor contracts and ensuring ROI-driven spend
  • Understanding of client relationship dynamics and comfort hosting high-profile executives
  • Strong aesthetic judgment and ability to translate brand identity into experiential design
  • Familiarity with event management and marketing platforms (e.g. Cvent) and comfort using data and analytics to evaluate success
  • Calm under pressure with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and willing to pivot quickly as priorities shift
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams

In accordance with pay transparency laws in the City of New York and the State of California, Portage Point provides a good-faith cash compensation range for this position. This range represents the cash compensation (base plus bonus) that the firm reasonably expects to pay upon hire, based on good-faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The final compensation within this range will depend on the candidate's qualifications, education, training, experience and location. In addition to cash compensation, Portage Point may offer comprehensive benefits and equity participation, which are not reflected in the pay range above.
