Job description

Maumee Supply & Waterhouse is seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to lead the development and continuous improvement of our operational systems, processes, technology, and infrastructure.

This is a high-impact leadership position for a problem solver, systems thinker, and process builder. We are looking for someone who enjoys identifying why things are not working, developing creative solutions, and removing barriers so employees can perform their jobs faster, easier, and more effectively.

The VP of Operations will have significant responsibility for Epicor Eclipse, IT, process improvement, SOP development, operational efficiency, and cross-functional problem solving across Maumee Supply and Waterhouse.  The VP of Operations will directly oversee the Purchasing team and Warehouse Manager.

At Maumee Supply & Waterhouse, we believe taking care of our team is the foundation for taking care of our customers. Our goal is to create a superior work environment where people are supported, challenged to grow, and empowered to do their best work. That commitment extends to our customers, whom we strive to serve as a complete, correct, and on-time supplier of residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing, heating, and industrial PVF materials. Through unmatched service, decades of industry knowledge, and a relentless focus on doing things the right way, we deliver value beyond the product itself. As we grow-both as individuals and as a company-we remain committed to continuously improving how we serve our team, our customers, and our community.

Requirements

Leadership & Organizational Accountability

Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and contribute to the overall direction, performance, and growth of the company.

Sit in the company's Integrator Seat on the Accountability Chart, providing leadership, alignment, and accountability across the organization.

Translate strategic priorities into clear goals, actionable plans, and measurable results.

Create clarity around ownership and expectations, and hold leaders accountable for execution and results.

Proactively identify organizational issues, bring solutions to the leadership team, and drive issues to resolution.

Build a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance while developing and coaching operations leaders.

Operations & Continuous Improvement

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, recurring problems, and unnecessary processes.

Analyze root causes and develop permanent solutions rather than temporary workarounds.

Improve operational efficiency, productivity, accuracy, and customer service.

Establish KPIs and reporting to measure operational performance.

Lead cross-functional operational improvement projects from concept through implementation.

Epicor Eclipse

Serve as the company's internal Epicor Eclipse subject-matter expert.

Identify opportunities to improve Eclipse utilization, workflows, reporting, and automation.

Improve processes involving Sales, Inside Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Accounting.

Troubleshoot Eclipse-related business problems and determine whether solutions involve process, training, configuration, reporting, or technology.

Manage relationships with Eclipse support, consultants, and technology partners.

Lead or coordinate Eclipse enhancements, integrations, and system projects.

IT & Technology

Provide leadership and oversight for the company's IT environment.

Manage relationships with external IT providers and technology vendors.

Identify technology risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities.

Help oversee cybersecurity, system access, hardware, software, backups, and technology standards.

Lead technology implementations and improvements.

Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve employee productivity.

Process Development & Documentation

Identify critical processes that are undocumented, inconsistent, or overly dependent on individual employees.

Create clear, practical SOPs and workflows.

Establish process owners and accountability.

Maintain the company's process documentation and operating standards.

Utilize tools such as Trainual and Loom to document and train employees on processes.

Ensure processes are implemented, trained, measured, and continuously improved.

Cross-Functional Problem Solving

Partner with Sales, Inside Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, Delivery, Accounting, Customer Service, and Waterhouse to remove operational barriers.

Improve order entry, inventory, purchasing, warehouse, delivery, customer service, and communication workflows.

Identify recurring problems and develop systems that prevent them from happening again.

Serve as a key escalation point for complex operational and system issues.

Work closely with executive leadership to improve the overall performance and scalability of the organization.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

A creative problem solver who enjoys figuring out difficult problems.

A systems thinker who understands how people, processes, technology, and data work together.

A process builder who naturally turns recurring problems into repeatable solutions.

A process documenter who believes processes should be written, trained, and consistently followed.

A technology-minded operator who understands how technology can improve business performance.

An Eclipse expert with meaningful hands-on experience using Epicor Eclipse.

A barrier remover who looks for ways to make other employees more productive.

A change agent who is comfortable challenging existing processes.

An executor who takes solutions from idea to implementation.

Curious, analytical, organized, and highly accountable.

Required Qualifications

Significant operations leadership experience in distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, construction supply, or a similar environment.

Strong hands-on Epicor Eclipse experience.

Demonstrated experience improving ERP-driven business processes.

Experience with IT systems, technology, and technology vendors.

Experience developing and implementing SOPs and documented processes.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with both executive leadership and frontline employees.

Preferred Qualifications

Wholesale distribution experience.

Plumbing, HVAC, industrial, electrical, or building-material distribution experience.

Epicor Eclipse implementation, optimization, or upgrade experience.

Experience with ERP integrations and automation.

Warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience.

Experience with business intelligence and operational reporting.

Experience with Trainual, Loom, or similar process-documentation platforms.

Experience with EOS or another structured operating system.

Experience managing external IT providers and technology partners.

Experience opening new locations and expanding into new territories.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means making Maumee Supply and Waterhouse faster, more efficient, more consistent, less dependent on a single individual employee, and poised for growth and expansion.

You will be successful when:

Recurring operational problems are eliminated.

Employees spend less time working around broken processes.

Eclipse is being used more effectively.

Critical processes are documented and consistently followed.

Manual and redundant work is reduced.

Technology works as an enabler rather than a barrier.

Employees have clearer processes, better tools, and fewer obstacles.

The company has a scalable operational foundation for continued growth.
