Job description

Job Title:
Vice President, Distribution
About Bombas:
Bombas is a comfort focused premium basics brand with a mission to help those in need. The company launched in 2013, after the founders learned that socks are the #1 most requested clothing item at homeless shelters. From there, they set out to solve that problem, donating a pair of socks for every pair they sell. How do you donate a lot of socks? You sell a lot. And how do you sell a lot? You make the most comfortable socks in the history of feet. Millions of pairs sold and donated later, Bombas has continued to innovate within its mission and product, introducing new socks, as well as underwear and t-shirts, the #2 and #3 most requested clothing items at homeless shelters, all while continuing to make a positive impact on the community where we all work and live.

The word Bombas is derived from the Latin word for bumblebees. Bees work together to make their hive a better place. At Bombas, we're inspired by that. We know it's the collective efforts of our team that keeps the Hive alive and strong - a team that is diverse and inclusive. Different perspectives strengthen our ability to make the most comfortable versions of the products people wear closest to their bodies every day and to serve the communities where we all work and live. We are committed to continuously building a Hive where all are welcomed, seen, and heard regardless of age, color, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, genetics, physical or mental ability, protected veteran status, race, religion and sexual orientation. As a team, we will strive to create room for different experiences and empower all voices.
Based on the specific needs and job requirements, this role will be working out of our Bombas HQ in New York City OR Bombas DC near Los Angeles, CA.
About the Job:
We are looking for a hands-on, strategic, and highly accountable team player to join our Supply Chain team as our Vice President of Distribution, reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and managing e-comm, wholesale, donation, retail fulfillment teams.. This is an opportunity to own and scale an omni-channel distribution network, lead through strong external partnerships, and build best-in-class fulfillment capabilities that support Bombas' continued growth across e-commerce, wholesale, and retail.
What you'll be responsible for:
  • Own end-to-end distribution strategy and execution across all warehousing and fulfillment operations, ensuring scalable, reliable support for e-commerce, wholesale, and retail channels across multiple physical distribution locations.
  • Serve as the primary owner of 3PL relationships, spending significant, regular time on the ground at partner facilities to oversee operations, reinforce expectations, and ensure alignment and accountability with Bombas' evolving operational, brand, and customer experience standards.
  • Lead and govern a network of third-party logistics (3PL) partners, including selection, onboarding, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance management to ensure service, cost, quality, and compliance expectations are consistently met.
  • Ensure day-to-day operational compliance at 3PL sites, validating that processes, staffing models, training, safety practices, and technology usage align with Bombas requirements and scale appropriately as the business grows.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce SLAs, KPIs, and operating scorecards, with direct accountability for on-time, in-full delivery, inventory accuracy, throughput, labor productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive daily execution through influence and presence, maintaining strong operational rhythms with 3PL partners through on-site walkthroughs, weekly operating reviews, escalation management, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
  • Act as the senior escalation point for operational breakdowns impacting customer experience, wholesale partners, or retail stores, personally engaging on-site when needed to drive resolution and long-term corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with Logistics leadership as a critical liaison point to ensure seamless alignment between inbound transportation, outbound shipping strategies, capacity planning, and fulfillment execution.
  • Design and evolve the distribution network strategy to support growth, including facility readiness, capacity planning, peak execution, SKU proliferation, channel mix changes, and future expansion or consolidation decisions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across partner facilities, identifying and driving process, system, layout, automation, and labor optimization opportunities that improve speed, accuracy, scalability, and unit economics.
  • Own the distribution operating budget, identifying opportunities to improve cost structure while protecting service levels and long-term scalability.
  • Build, coach, and develop a best-in-class distribution leadership team, setting a high bar for operational excellence, ownership, and accountability. This includes recruiting top-tier talent, clearly defining roles and expectations, providing regular feedback and mentorship, and ensuring the organization has the capabilities required to scale alongside Bombas' growth and evolving distribution needs.
What you'll love about us:
  • We are a team of smart, interesting, diverse, funny, and loving people.
  • We offer competitive compensation, employer paid health, medical and dental benefits, 401k with match, paid parental leave, snacks, socks and a fun, relaxed office environment.
  • We take the responsibility to make sure you are excited, happy, and find fulfillment in your work very seriously.
  • We value fun. This is why we host office lunches, offsite team outings and company retreats.
  • We believe in giving back to the community and helping those in need, which is why we volunteer as a team regularly.
  • We believe success comes from the collective effort of all, which is why all full-time employees receive equity in the business.
  • We understand the value of health, relaxation, spending time with friends and family, and traveling the world and offer flexible paid time off for all full-time employees. This includes over 20 paid company holidays, year-round "Flexible Fridays" and unlimited vacation, sick, and wellness days.
  • We understand the importance of communication and offer a monthly phone stipend for all full-time employees.
  • We believe a healthy body equals a healthy mind, so we offer a $100 monthly wellbeing reimbursement to all full-time employees.

What you'll bring:
  • 10+ years of progressive distribution and supply chain leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience both operating company-owned distribution centers and managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, with a deep understanding of what "great" looks like on the warehouse floor.
  • Proven success leading on-site warehouse operations, including labor models, productivity, safety, inventory accuracy, peak planning, and daily execution - not solely vendor oversight.
  • Extensive experience governing 3PL partners at scale, including provider selection, contract negotiation, SLA/KPI design, performance management, escalation handling, and long-term relationship leadership.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of warehouse and fulfillment operations, with the ability to translate first-hand operating experience into effective standards and accountability across external partners.
  • Strong understanding of omni-channel fulfillment complexity, supporting e-commerce, wholesale, and retail from shared or distributed inventory pools.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP integrations, and operational reporting, with comfort driving adoption and process discipline across internal teams and external partners.
  • Executive-level leadership experience building, coaching, and scaling high-performing operations teams, including recruiting top talent and developing future leaders.
  • Highly hands-on leadership style, with willingness to spend significant time on-site at distribution and fulfillment facilities and travel up to 50%
  • Experience evolving operations with 'right sized' automated solutions, enabling the strategic requirements of the business (evolving product mix / sku count / channel complexity / order requirements / volumes)
