Job description

Vice President Lending

As our Vice President Lending, you will:

  • Serve as the primary credit risk officer, evaluating complex credit applications and issuing definitive lending decisions within established policy risk tolerances.
  • Maintain exhaustive knowledge of regulatory lending mandates; implement internal controls to align practices with consumer protection and lending laws.
  • Oversee operational workflows for consumer and real estate lending lines to maximize efficiency and accuracy from application through funding.
  • Prepare and present accurate, data-driven reports for the Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) and the Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal/external audits and state/federal regulatory examinations, ensuring timely compilation of required documentation.
  • Drive the department to meet or exceed asset growth, loan volume, and outstanding balance metrics established by the executive leadership team.
  • Direct daily delinquency management and collections operations to protect credit union assets and minimize loan losses.
  • Conduct monthly portfolio reviews to determine and approve final loan charge-offs, ensuring accurate accounting and recovery of collateral sales.
  • Collaborate with the Loan Servicing Manager to structure complex loan workouts, short sales, and the management of Owned Real Estate Open (OREO) properties.
  • Supervise business and consumer loan servicing, including payment processing, documentation compliance, and mandatory annual commercial reviews.
  • Oversee the optimization and maintenance of core lending systems, ensuring post-closing exception tracking is resolved efficiently.
  • Continually monitor evolving HMDA, consumer lending, and collection laws to update operational manuals and policy documentation dynamically.
  • Collaborate with peer business lines to cultivate cross-selling opportunities and deepen member relationships.
  • Establish and scale strategic B2B partnerships with mortgage companies, home equity lenders, realtors, and institutional partners.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and market potential of launching a fee-based mortgage processing service model.
  • Set strategic goals, deliver regular performance evaluations, and foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Implement robust cross-training programs and job rotation frameworks to ensure operational continuity and internal talent pipelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field (or equivalent executive-level experience).
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive leadership experience within a full-service financial institution or mortgage banking company.
  • Familiar with secondary market guidelines (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac), HMDA, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and federal/state lending regulations.
  • Proven track record of strategic leadership, talent development, and high-integrity decision-making.
  • Proficiency in advanced loan origination systems (LOS), core banking platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced understanding of loan restructuring, workouts, foreclosures, and short sales is highly desirable.
