In this dynamic, people-centered role, youโ€™ll lead and grow a vibrant volunteer network, working alongside refugee resettlement agencies, local partners, and community organizations to deliver essential services. Your work will directly empower volunteers and help newly arrived families successfully transition into their new homes.

  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteers who are passionate about serving others
  • Coordinate daily volunteer activities, ensuring impactful and well-organized support
  • Provide ongoing coaching, supervision, and performance feedback
  • Build relationships with community organizations, faith groups, and local partners to expand engagement
  • Support donation drives, distribution efforts, and community events

Under the guidance of management, creates a collaborative volunteer network among the Refugee Resettlement Agencies in Michigan by providing coordination and supervision of volunteer services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Recruit, interview, hire, and provide onboarding, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers.
  2. Coordinate the operational and daily activities of volunteers; provide ongoing volunteer supervision, guidance and training in accordance with organization, program and contract policies, procedures and guidelines for program sites. Ensure that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization.
  3. Conduct performance evaluation of volunteers and address performance concerns in accordance with organizationโ€™s policies and procedures; provide ongoing communication with the Lead and Program Supervisor regarding such activity.
  4. Collaborate with representatives from local governmental agencies, business, and community organizations to meet service objectives of the program.
  5. Collaborate with representatives and attend meetings of local organizations, committees, and faith institutions to promote volunteer engagement.
  6. Support with Donation appeals and distribution of donations.
  7. Support with logistics and implementation of Samaritas events as needed.
  8. Collaborate with Matching Grant Team to support in documentation of Match Collection.

Job Qualifications

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Two yearsโ€™ experience working in volunteer services or related area preferred.

Additional Work Requirements

  • Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driverโ€™s license with good driving record and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served. Valid proof of automobile insurance.ย 
  • There is a possibility of transporting donations
