Job description

Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Data Network Technician opening for our client in West Mifflin, PA.

Location: West Mifflin, PA
Duration: 18 months

Duties:

  • Serve in a network support and project delivery role as part of the Data Networking team, supporting all technical and business requirements for the data network at Pittsburgh offices and Mon Valley Works steel plant sites.
  • Contribute to incident and event management for data network and server issues, including investigation, troubleshooting, reporting, resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions—this includes on-call, off-hours support for on-site work.
  • Coordinate with USS and Accenture teams to deliver services to HDQ customers.
  • Act as a fully integrated member of the Data Networking team, responsible for delivering successful solutions and trouble resolution.
  • Monitor data networks for performance, security, and stability; proactively identify trends and address issues.

Skills:

  • Expertise in managing wired and wireless networks, preferably in a Cisco environment.
  • Strong time management skills, able to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and technical support staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex incidents and develop innovative solutions.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting data networking technologies in an enterprise environment, including:
    • LAN switching and routing in a Cisco network environment.
    • WLAN fundamentals and support of Cisco solutions.
    • Server fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships related to incident management and project coordination.
  • On-call support required, with willingness to participate in a 24/7 rotation.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required; further education in a relevant field is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • Willingness to work in hands-on roles within office and heavy-industry environments, including Data Center areas.
  • Demonstrated expertise through training or certification in related technologies, including:
    • Palo Alto/Firewall support.
    • Advanced IP routing (OSPF and BGP).
    • Data center network support (Arista platform).
    • Network security controls.
    • Scripting or programming in a network environment (e.g., Ansible).
    • Netbrain support.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
