TITLE: Media Secretary - School Media Center

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.ย  High school education; some college preferred.
2.ย  Must pass the test administered to applicants for Media Secretary position in the DPS.
3.ย  Demonstrate ability to maintain effective working relationships with students and/or co-workers
4.ย  Service-oriented, courteous and tactful, dependable and flexible. ย 
REPORTING:ย  Consultant - Media Services/Technology, School Media Specialist. ย 
JOB GOAL:ย  Assist the Media Specialist in the implementation of theย school library media program and the service it provides to school community. ย 
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.ย  Operate and maintain library media automatedย circulation system and the computer for patron use in theย ย media center.ย 
2.ย  Perform automated circulation tasks, such as reserves/holds, booking and/or scheduling, delivering materials andย 
ย  ย  ย equipment as required per building when time permits.ย  ย 
3.ย  Maintain a list of media center materials/supplies as required/requested by specialists to be ordered when necessary.ย  ย 
4.ย  Generate overdue notices and circulation reports ย 
5.ย  Locate and retrieve materials and equipment for students and staff, assist them in using the media center resources as time permits.ย  ย 
6.ย  Assist in the operation and minor repair of materials. ย 
7.ย  Shelve books, other materials and maintain files. ย 
8.ย  Check directories to determine the availability of materials. ย 
9.ย  Assist student helpers and other volunteers in the media center, under agreement with the specialist. ย 
10. Assist students with material searches when time permits.ย  ย 
11. At the discretion of the media specialist and when time permits, plan and execute showcase and bulletin board displays or direct student preparationย  ย  ย  ย  ย  of he same. ย 
12. Respond to the interests and needs of the students and staff under the supervision of the Media Specialist.
