At Duke, we celebrate individuality and the unique perspectives that each member of our community brings. Reunion campaigns are moments that move people-where stories, gratitude, and momentum come together. In this role, you'll set ambitious goals, use data to sharpen strategy, and lead with confidence as you personally solicit donors and empower volunteers to do the same. You'll help grow leadership annual giving by creating tailored outreach that inspires alumni to invest in the next generation of Duke Law leaders.
What You'll Do:
The Assistant Director for Reunions and Leadership Giving is a member of the Duke Law School Annual Giving team within the Law School Alumni and Development Office. This position advances philanthropic support by leading comprehensive reunion class gift campaigns and managing a robust volunteer program. You'll develop and execute fundraising strategies to achieve reunion and leadership annual giving goals, personally solicit donors, recruit and train volunteers, and use data-driven analysis to guide decisions and measure success. Reports to the Senior Regional Director of Development, Director of Annual Giving.

- Develop solicitation strategies for leadership annual giving prospects in collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni and Development colleagues.
- Personally solicit leadership-level reunion alumni, including members of the Duke Law Barrister Donor Society.
- Monitor progress toward fundraising goals using donor and performance data; analyze results and refine strategies throughout the campaign cycle.
- Coordinate with Law School major gift officers to align engagement and solicitation strategies for alumni leaders during reunion campaigns.
- Travel nationally to personally solicit donors and support volunteer-led fundraising activity.
Volunteer Recruitment and Management
- Recruit, train, motivate, and manage reunion volunteers, including both current reunion year and pre-reunion year volunteers.
- Develop, revise, and maintain reunion volunteer materials, including handbooks, training resources, and solicitation messaging.
- Provide individualized or small-group training and ongoing support to ensure volunteer success.
- Assign and track volunteer solicitations; prepare call lists, briefing materials, and follow-up guidance.
- Maintain consistent communication with volunteers and provide regular progress updates toward class gift goals.
- Ensure accurate recording of pledges, donor information updates, and solicitation outcomes.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
- Build and manage productive relationships with colleagues across Duke University (e.g., Central Development, Athletics, Fuqua School of Business, and other schools) to coordinate outreach to alumni with multiple University affiliations.
- Collaborate with Law School major gifts officers and Alumni Engagement staff to align solicitation strategies and support Reunion Weekend programming.
Team Participation and Reporting
- Serve as an active and collaborative member of the Duke Law Annual Giving team.
- Contribute to annual operating plans, quarterly reports, and mid-year and year-end analyses.
- Prepare and present fundraising and participation data to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Attend staff meetings, reunion giving meetings, and Law School alumni events, including Board meetings, Graduation, and Reunion Weekend.
- Coordinate with colleagues on annual fund communications, including direct mail and digital solicitations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
