Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Responsible for timely coding charts in accordance with the current principles of ICD-10 and AHA coding guidelines.
  • Supports the Health Information Services Department through a variety of clerical, technical, and related support services
  • Assembles medical records and perform other daily duties within the Health Information Management Services department as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education/Training: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred

Experience:

  • One-year (1) year experience in inpatient coding experience.

Licensure/Certification:

  •  CCS, CCA Certification from AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT
  • Must be a Certified Coder.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM coding , filing, record-keeping, and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledgeable of general medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and psychiatric terms and diagnosis.
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate a professional and personal demeanor with customers on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of State/Federal and HIPAA laws pertaining to patient confidentiality and release of protected health information.
