What is a Volunteer 7 Off RN?

Volunteer 7 Off RNs are registered nurses who volunteer their services and typically work a '7 days on, 7 days off' schedule. This means they work for seven consecutive days, followed by seven days off, which allows for extended rest periods or time to pursue other interests. These nurses may serve in various healthcare settings, supporting staff during busy periods or covering gaps in care. Their voluntary contributions help improve patient care without the constraints of a standard full-time contract. This flexible work model is especially appealing for nurses seeking work-life balance or additional experience.

What are some common challenges faced by Volunteer 7 Off RNs working in offsite or non-traditional healthcare settings?

Volunteer Registered Nurses (RNs) working outside traditional hospital environments often encounter unique challenges, such as limited access to medical equipment, scarce resources, and the need to make quick decisions with minimal supervision. They may also serve diverse populations with varying healthcare needs, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills. Collaboration with other volunteers and local staff is essential, as is the ability to remain flexible and resourceful in dynamic or unpredictable situations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Volunteer 7 Off RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Volunteer Registered Nurse, you need a current RN license, solid clinical skills, and relevant hands-on nursing experience. Familiarity with electronic health records, basic medical equipment, and sometimes certifications in CPR or first aid are typically required. Compassion, adaptability, and strong communication are crucial soft skills for effectively supporting patients and collaborating with diverse healthcare teams. These skills ensure safe, high-quality care and allow volunteers to make a meaningful impact in a variety of healthcare settings.

Job description

On-Call RN | 7 On 7 Off

Ozark, MO

Back to Purpose.

Not every nurse is looking for the same schedule.

Some are looking for meaningful work, greater independence, and the opportunity to make a difference when patients need it most.

At Haven Home Health & Hospice, our On-Call RNs provide skilled nursing care after hours, helping patients remain safe and comfortable at home while supporting families during the moments that matter most.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Weekends: 24-hour call coverage
  • 7 days on, followed by 7 days off

If you're ready to step away from the constant pace of facility-based care and get back to the reason you became a nurse, we'd love to meet you.

Why This Role Matters

When the office closes, patient care continues.

Youโ€™ll be the calm voice on the phone, the trusted clinician making home visits when needed, and the support patients and families count on during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Your clinical judgment helps patients stay safely at home while ensuring they receive the care they need, when they need it most.

What Youโ€™ll Love
  • 7 on, 7 off schedule
  • Salary position with a full week off every other week
  • One-on-one patient care
  • Autonomy with the support of an experienced clinical team
  • Locally owned organization that puts patients before numbers
Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Missouri RN license in good standing
  • Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and organization
  • Dependable and responsive
  • Home health experience is a plus, but not required
Back to Purpose Starts Here.

Join a team where your experience is valued, your judgment is trusted, and your work truly makes a difference.
