The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Program and Compliance Assurance Leader, Americas is responsible to manage, lead, and track the implementation of EHS programs to include the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs at locations where required across America's ISC. The position will be expected to provide strategic and tactical direction, leadership, and technical support to advance the implementation of EHS requirements in conjunction with Trane Technologies, Regional, and SBU requirements and will serve as the SME for PSM. The position will also have core responsibilities around Compliance Assurance activities such as internal and external audits, and systems to ensure sites are meeting regulatory and company obligations. The position will have additional responsibilities supporting the SBU EHS director on additional initiatives as assigned. This position will travel up to 50%.

What you will do:

  • Overall responsibility to ensure EHS Standard Work is implemented and layered audits are conducted based on Trane Technologies business operating system (BOS) requirements

  • Manage and implement the EHS Management System requirements across the Region

  • Supports the launch of all activities needed to incorporate standard work

  • Develop a culture of process discipline around leaders following standard work

  • Develop EHS & business Leaders to create, implement, and sustain EHS standard work at each site across the Region

  • Manage & Implement Process Safety Management (PSM) at locations where required ensuring systems, procedures, competency, and best practices are applied

  • Onboard and develop internal PSM resources where assigned at plant locations

  • Directly interface with PSM consultants, when necessary, to drive PSM program development and implementation

  • Work with sites across the Region during PSM audits to assist with audit preparation and subsequent closure of findings

  • Ensure systems are in place to monitor and achieve compliance with all OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agency requirements at all locations throughout the region to include assisting sites with audit preparation and subsequent closure of findings.

  • Create and implement systems to ensure compliance with internal company requirements such as action tracking system (ATS), Compliance Calendar, Permit Manager, Immersion Tracker (EHS Management System)

  • Provide professional problem-solving input to both short term and long-term opportunities. Manage and provide recommendations on EH&S resource requirements

  • Implement strategies to reduce work site incidents/events in alignment with EH&S reduction goals. Coach and develop plant EHS teams around performance of root cause analysis on accidents/ injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent reoccurrence

  • Provide timely information and guidance for the leadership including EH&S performance trends, root cause corrective actions for incidences and near misses

  • Support employee engagement around EH&S and other key initiatives of the leadership team.

  • Works as liaison between business unit/corporate and service teams to resolve issues and concerns

  • Develop strategies to remain current on information, legislation, and technical advances within EHS and understand their impact on assigned operations

  • Support M&A activities, as assigned

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 7+ years of direct EHS management and supervisory responsibility

  • Proven skills within implementation of complex safety programs and procedures

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the OSHA, PSM, EPA, and DOT regulations, experience in the Interpretation of local and state environmental and safety and standards

Key Competencies:

  • Results oriented, manufacturing process background with proven ability to successfully implement EHS Management system elements to include Process Safety Management

  • One or more safety-related professional certifications desired (i.e. CHMM, CSP)

  • Proven ability to teach and coach others for performance and overall success

  • Knowledge with material concerns (metals & VOC's) and familiarity with most effective methods of utilization/exposure reduction and control

  • Solid experience in Environmental laws (Waste, air and Water)

  • Demonstrated experience in the integration of EHS into the manufacturing process preferred

  • Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of leadership and plant personnel

  • Computer and analytical skills, high motivation and passion for EHS management with need for minimal direction

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, familiarity with lean manufacturing tools including basic problem solving (BPS)
