Acuity is hiring for a Virtualization Architect that will provide technical leadership for enterprise virtualization platforms supporting Department of State hosted infrastructure and cloud modernization initiatives. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and securing virtual infrastructure across multiple data centers and cloud environments while ensuring high availability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain enterprise virtualization environments using VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, and related technologies.
  • Architect hybrid cloud solutions supporting Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, and private cloud environments.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization and migration projects.
  • Optimize compute, storage, networking, and virtualization resources.
  • Develop automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Implement disaster recovery, replication, backup, and business continuity solutions.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, cybersecurity, and application teams to deliver integrated infrastructure services.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of State security policies, RMF, STIGs, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Produce architecture documentation, engineering designs, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
  • Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of virtualization engineering experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise storage, SAN technologies, backup solutions, and cloud integration.
  • Experience supporting large-scale federal or government enterprise environments.
  • Security+ CE or higher certification.

Preferred Certifications
  • VMware VCAP or VCDX
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect
  • AWS Solutions Architect
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • VMware Cloud Foundation certifications

Clearance Requirement
  • Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret)
