Job Description Job Title: Virtualization Engineer Location: Dallas, TX Duration: 6 months Pay Rate: $40/HR (W2 Only) Job/Role Description: This role helps support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our client's virtualized server infrastructure. This position will provide support for the VMware vSphere environment, ensuring high performance and availability of virtualization components. This position will ensure high quality service delivery through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and adherence to security best practices and operational standards.
Design, implement, and maintain the VMware vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts (6.5+), vCenter Server, and vSAN Configure and manage virtual networks, storage, and other virtualization components Handle the installation, configuration, and administration of Virtual Center Server, VMware View, Disaster Recovery, Plate Spin, vMotion, P2V, P2P, V2V, and VMware Update Manager Monitor and troubleshoot the VMware vSphere environment for performance and availability Develop and maintain automation scripts for the VMware vSphere environment Manage vCenter integration with AD, DNS, backup, and other applications Administer and manage Red Hat RHEL Operating Systems Accurately log and document system changes, incidents, and resolutions in the ticketing system Identify opportunities for improvement in the virtualization infrastructure and automation processes Provide planning and oversight for system change activity Report key performance metrics to management Required Qualifications Prior experience with a large enterprise virtualization environment Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer programming, or a similar field Experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi 6.5+, vCenter, vSAN) Experience with virtualization tools such as vMotion, P2V, V2V, and Update Manager Experience with Red Hat RHEL Operating Systems Experience with automation and scripting for virtual environments Well versed in troubleshooting complex/multitier issues within the virtual infrastructure Previous experience in vendor management preferred Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations Highly self-motivated and directed Strong organizational skills Keen attention to detail Strong customer service orientation VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred Experience with other virtualization technologies (KVM, Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization) a plus Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes) a plus In-depth knowledge of virtualization and hypervisor security/hardening techniques a plus.
