Stillman Law Office is a multi-state creditors' rights law firm headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan. We represent a diverse portfolio of clients and are committed to delivering exceptional legal services while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, compliance, and client service.
As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a Michigan-licensed Associate Attorney to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to manage a varied caseload, appear in court, provide legal analysis, and work collaboratively with experienced legal professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Additional bar admissions in other jurisdictions are highly valued and may provide opportunities for expanded responsibilities within the Firm.
Position Summary
The Associate Attorney will represent the Firm and its clients in matters related to creditors' rights and collections litigation. Responsibilities include court appearances, legal analysis, review and approval of pleadings, and providing legal guidance to support the Firm's operations and client needs.
Previous experience in creditors' rights, collections litigation, or civil litigation is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in virtual and in-person court appearances throughout Michigan.
  • Review, approve, and sign pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Provide legal analysis and opinions regarding case strategy, procedural issues, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws, court rules, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure effective case management and timely resolution of matters.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage deadlines and caseload priorities in a high-volume legal environment.
  • Support the Firm's commitment to compliance, client service, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the Michigan State Bar.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred
  • Experience in creditors' rights, collections litigation, civil litigation, or related practice areas.
  • Admission in one or more additional jurisdictions, including:
    • Connecticut
    • Delaware
    • Maryland
    • Massachusetts
    • New Hampshire
    • Washington, D.C.
  • Experience appearing in court and handling contested matters.
  • Familiarity with collection management platforms and legal case management systems, including Cogent.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience working with legal case management and document management systems is a plus.
