Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Digital Content Specialist leads day-to-day execution across Gift of Life Michigan's owned and priority digital platforms. This role develops compelling content, manages publishing calendars, improves digital performance and helps connect audiences to our mission through thoughtful storytelling and user-focused experiences.

This role collaborates with the social media team but does not serve as the primary owner of social media channels.

Duties & Responsibilities

The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive. Those in bold are essential duties of the position:

  • Maintain and update website content, landing pages, blogs and priority web pages.
  • Improve user experience, readability and content flow across digital properties.
  • Apply SEO best practices to increase discoverability and traffic.
  • Manage content presence on channels such as Reddit, Substack, blogs and future digital platforms.
  • Repurpose organizational stories into channel-ready formats and adapt messaging for each platform's audience and behavior.
  • Monitor digital performance across web, email, and content channels and use analytics to improve engagement and results.
  • Build and deploy eblasts, newsletters, donor communications, and audience campaigns, through the development of compelling subject lines, headlines and calls-to-action.
  • Support paid digital campaigns and audience targeting as assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to translate initiatives into digital content plans.
  • Stay current on emerging digital platforms, audience behavior and content trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, digital media, communications or related field plus three years' relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in digital content, email marketing, web marketing or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (WordPress or similar).
  • Experience with email platforms such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot or similar.
  • Experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with video editing.
Preferred
  • Experience writing for Reddit, Substack, blogs, newsletters, or community platforms.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.
  • Familiarity with paid digital campaigns or conversion-focused marketing.
  • Basic photography/video skills a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, while demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, and exercise initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage tasks or project assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge in scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Sprout, Later, Meta Planner).
  • Knowledge in basic video editing (CapCut, Adobe Express/Premiere Rush).
  • Ability to critical think and problem solve, taking big picture ideas and implementing concrete tactics to reach goals.
  • Ability to analyze social and Google data and develop reports.
