Job description

The Vice President (VP) - Executive Director serves as a senior administration-level executive reporting to the Senior Vice President - Commandant of Cadets providing operational oversight of the Corps of Cadets, Campus Police, JC Athletics, and the Military Science Department (MSD). The VP directly oversees the enterprise vision, aligns functions with institutional priorities, and serves as the senior administrator in overseeing student culture, safety, enrollment drivers, and leadership development. The Vice President (VP) - Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of the Corps of Cadets, Campus Police, JC Athletics, and the MSD in accordance with the SVP's guidance and intent. The VP ensures coordination of cadet life, athletics, campus safety, and military training; synchronizes scheduling and resources; and drives performance in recruitment, retention, compliance, and student success before elevating issues or strategy to the SVP. This structure unifies leadership development, student engagement, safety, and military readiness into a cohesive system. The Corps of Cadets' non-academic functions, athletic programs, and campus police operations are managed in alignment with institutional goals, while military training and protocols are executed in coordination with the Professor of Military Science. The VP maintains external partnerships and operational relationships, while the SVP engages at the strategic level with organizations. The Commandant is the senior leader accountable for overall outcomes, the VP - Executive Director is the driver of integrated operations that support Georgia Military College's mission and long-term success.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • As Vice President Executive Director, provides operational leadership and tactical oversight to the College Corps of Cadets, College Athletics, Campus Police, and Army ROTC, to include all equipment, resources, and cadet/athlete scholarship allocations. Personnel responsibilities include professional development, recruitment, retention, performance management, risk management.
  • As a member of the GMC Vice President Council, serves with other VP Council members in supporting the President's vision and strategic initiatives for long term success of Georgia Military College - always placing the Institution first. In partnership and coordination with VP Council members, assists in the prioritization of key efforts and resources that best support the mission of GMC; provide strategic leadership and executive oversight synchronizing all operations at GMC, while deconflicting efforts and constraints between the Institutional staff, the Junior College, the Online College, and the K-12 Prep School. Forge positive relationships within State of Georgia, and community. Cultivate and improve alumni and fundraising operations for the College Corps of Cadets and College Athletics.
  • In the SVP - Commandant's absence, serve as the senior military representative of Georgia Military College. For the SVP - Commandant, assist in scheduling and leading the GMC Military Heritage Council. Maintain Institution's focus on the Military Arm of Georgia Military College.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of leadership and management
  • 5 years of leading in a senior administrative or executive leadership capacity
  • Basic accounting and business principles, developing a workforce
  • Proven track record of managing large, diverse teams and multi-million dollar operational budgets
  • Masterful ability to translate a Senior VP / Commandant's strategic intent into daily, synchronized execution across disparate departments
  • High proficiency in complex scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics management for large student populations
  • Exceptional skill in managing culture, diagnosing systemic morale issues, and driving leadership development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree; completion of military war college or advanced executive leadership programs
  • 12+ years of strategic leadership and management experience blending military service with higher education administration
  • Retired O5 / O6 (Battalion / Squadron / Ship Command / ROTC PMS)
  • Executive level management and leadership of building, training and orchestrating winning teams in higher education
  • Exceptional ability to "lead from the middle"-- managing massive internal operations autonomously while ensuring seamless alignment with the SVP's ultimate vision
