Position Summary
Three Rivers Corporation is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) to serve as the senior operational leader of the organization. This executive will oversee all operational functions across the company's medical, commercial, and industrial construction divisions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Under direction of the President, the EVP/COO will work closely with the executive leadership team to translate the company's strategic vision into operational execution while driving operational performance, financial discipline, and sustainable growth. This role requires a strong leader with deep construction industry knowledge, financial acumen, and the ability to scale a growing organization while maintaining operational excellence and a strong safety culture. The EVP/COO will maintain strong engagement with field leadership and employees to ensure alignment between corporate strategy and jobsite execution.
As part of the company's long-term succession planning, this role will provide an opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of the business, ideally positioning the individual for consideration as company President upon retirement of the current President. While this opportunity exists, such transition will be merit based and is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across all divisions and project sites.
  • Provide executive leadership for all operational functions across Three Rivers Corporation's medical, commercial, and industrial construction divisions.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and implement operational systems, procedures, and performance metrics that improve efficiency, scalability, and profitability.
  • Maintain active engagement with field leadership and jobsite personnel to ensure operational alignment and support.
  • Manage project execution, staffing strategies, equipment utilization, and operational planning across the organization.
  • Partner with the President and executive leadership team to execute the company's strategic plan and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Evaluate operational performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement strategies that strengthen organizational performance.
  • Work closely with the CFO to monitor financial performance, budgets, and divisional profitability.
  • Support major project pursuits, contract negotiations, and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and mentor senior leadership across operations, project management, and field leadership.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and leadership development across the organization.

Sales, Business Development, and Growth
  • Translate the company's strategic plan into actionable growth initiatives including market expansion, customer diversification, and pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Provide executive oversight of sales, estimating, marketing, and business development functions.
  • Establish disciplined processes for managing sales pipelines, backlog development, opportunity evaluation, and pricing strategies.
  • Serve as an executive relationship leader for key clients, strategic accounts, and industry partners.
  • Support the development and pursuit of major project opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitive dynamics, and industry trends to support long-term growth.
  • Ensure strong collaboration between preconstruction, operations, and finance to support accurate estimating and profitable project delivery.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the construction or construction adjacent industry.
  • At least 5 years experience presenting to, or working directly with, a Board of Directors.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale operations and multi-division organizations, with particular emphasis on construction.
  • Strong financial management experience including P&L responsibility, budgeting, and operational forecasting.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational performance, organizational growth, and strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and supporting career development of subordinate employees at various stages of their professional growth.
  • Deep understanding of construction safety regulations, industry standards, and project delivery methods.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
