Description:
The Vice President, Finance is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, reporting, and strategic financial planning for the organization. This position ensures the integrity of financial information, compliance with applicable regulations, and the development of strong internal controls. The Vice President, Finance partners closely with executive leadership to support data-driven decision-making and long-term financial sustainability.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and oversee monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Perform monthly budget vs. actual analysis and provide insights on variances
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on significant budget variances, recommending corrective actions as needed
  • Supervise and develop accounting, finance, and payroll staff
  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and financial processes
  • Lead annual audit process, including preparation of work papers and draft GAAP financial statements
  • Prepare tax return work papers and coordinate with external tax advisors
  • Serve as liaison between Information Technology personnel and the accounting team to ensure system alignment and efficiency
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Manage and execute special financial projects as assigned
  • Review and analyze contracts for financial impact and compliance
  • Prepare required Major League Baseball reports (e.g., FIQ, Revenue Sharing, Special Projects)
  • Respond to and manage IRS inquiries and related compliance matters
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience managing audits, tax processes, and regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage high-performing teams
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership
  • Proficiency with finance and accounting systems with a focus on automation and workflow efficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or a similarly complex revenue environment preferred
