Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The meter painter is a temporary (6 month) position. This individual is responsible for utilizing an assigned company vehicle to report to scheduled locations within our service area and complete meter painting at the requested locations. This is an integral part of keeping our meters within Franklin, Chittenden, and Addison County up to code.


WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION?

• Inform customers upon arrival in a courteous professional manner of your assignment.

• Paint meters neatly by hand using the approved paint.

• Demonstrate a high level of safety while driving to location and while on location, you are a representative of Vermont Gas Systems.

• Report unusual conditions such as gas odors or meter damage, following normal VGS safety protocols.

• Take initiative to report any observed conditions that seem unsafe or unusual.

• Other duties as required or requested.


WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE?

• Minimum High school education and customer related work experience required.

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and a clean driving record required.

• Experience in dealing with customers and coworkers in a team environment.

• Technical knowledge and familiarity of Windows applications and other basic computer skills.

• Knowledge of basic hand tools.

Physical Demands/Work Conditions

• Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to appropriate drug and alcohol testing as prescribed by the Federal Register 49 CFR-Section 199.

• Current and ability to maintain a valid Vermont Driver License. May be required to drive a motor vehicle for up to 8 hours a day.

• Frequently - stand; walk; sit; drive; work on a computer; and manipulate objects including small hand tools with both hands.

• Occasionally - push; pull; bend; stoop; squat; climb; twist; kneel; crawl; reach above shoulder level; and use both hands for simple and power grasping.

• Continuously lift up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift between 10-20 lbs.

• Work outdoors on a continuous basis.

• Exposure to weather conditions to include extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, gases, chemicals, vibrations, etc.

• Walking on uneven ground and driving in all weather conditions.

• Frequently work in close quarters.

• Subject to hazards.
