(GES) is a leader in geotechnical engineering, serving the New York City Metropolitan Area and other locations including New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. With over 20 years of experience, GES has earned a reputation for reliability and excellence in consulting services for projects ranging from residential developments to complex infrastructures like the Second Avenue Subway. The company works with high-profile clients such as Con Edison, and Verizon. GES provides tailored solutions through subsurface investigations, geotechnical recommendations, detailed reporting, and construction inspections, ensuring quality, safety, and timely project completion.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Geotechnical Engineer based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, with field (on construction job sites) and remote work when not in the field. Applicants should be flexible to work on occasional weekends if the site requires it. Typical duties include:

  • Preparation of Daily Field Reports
  • Design of Support of Excavation and Underpinning and of AutoCAD Drafting of SOE Drawings
  • Analysis of Retaining Walls, including site visits, calculations, sketches, and reports concerning the safety of existing retaining walls.
  • Perform special inspection of piles, support of excavation, underpinning, excavation and backfilling etc.
  • Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and clients to address project-specific needs is an integral part of the role.
  • Writing Geotechnical Investigation reports
  • Inspection of geotechnical borings, dynamic cone penetrometer probes, and test pits.
  • Foundation Design, including piles, SOE walls, retaining walls.
  • Analysis of field data, including written calculations and modeling using design software.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in the field and be on construction sites.
  • Knowledge and experience in Site Investigation and subsurface data collection
  • Strong understanding of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering principles
  • Expertise in Engineering Geology and its application in construction projects
  • Proficiency in Foundation Design practices for various project scales
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus
  • Experience with soil analysis software and geotechnical design tools
  • Ability to work in both field and office environments, with a willingness to travel locally
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards obtaining the PE is a plus
