Job description

Job Description: The client is seeking an expert Network Administrator to support the DOT Transportation Safety Management and Operations (TSMO) Technology Program. The role is responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise IT and OT network infrastructure supporting traffic signals and transportation systems. The ideal candidate will provide advanced troubleshooting, architecture support, L3 technical support, vendor coordination, remote technician guidance, network monitoring, and security compliance in a large distributed network environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues for DOT Traffic Signals and Traffic Management Centers (TMCs)
  • Architect and recommend network technology improvements aligned with ITS standards
  • Provide Level 3 technical support for enterprise IT/OT systems
  • Configure and support Cisco routers, firewalls, VPN devices, and SDWAN solutions
  • Work with vendors on installation, configuration, and testing of networking solutions
  • Conduct network troubleshooting using packet analysis tools such as Wireshark
  • Maintain inventory of network equipment and firmware updates
  • Train technicians on remote connectivity and maintenance processes
  • Ensure compliance with ITS security standards
  • Provide remote field support and off-hours assistance when required.

  • Support limited travel within Capital District field locations
  • Participate in NDA, fingerprinting, background checks, and annual training requirements
