Portland, Eugene, Bend, etc. Close to Salem with no overnight travel when in the Salem office.

Position Overview

The Oregon Department of Agriculture is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to provide senior-level systems administration services in support of two major technology modernization initiatives: the Data Center Modernization (DCM) Project and the Mac to Windows Transition Project. This role will augment internal staff and provide critical technical expertise throughout these initiatives while also assisting with day-to-day operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support

  • Support the Data Center Modernization and Mac to Windows Transition projects through planning, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and operational readiness
  • Assist with server migrations, identity modernization, domain consolidation, and infrastructure modernization
  • Participate in testing, pilot deployments, production implementations, and troubleshooting

Systems Administration

  • Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure, DNS, DHCP, and related infrastructure
  • Support Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, endpoint management, Windows imaging, workstation deployment, and device lifecycle management
  • Provide Tier III technical support and assist with day-to-day operational systems administration activities as assigned

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials
  • Prepare and submit a monthly status report summarizing work completed, significant accomplishments, issues or risks, and planned work for the following month

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with ODA staff, project managers, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Communicate risks, issues, and dependencies promptly
  • Participate in project and operational meetings
  • Follow all applicable security and confidentiality requirements

  • Proven experience with Windows Server administration
