Job description

Rail Clerk - VPC 1st Shift

Summary:  Support the Rail operation by assisting with the loading plan, verifying railcars, monitoring the loading process and generating various reports and billing documents.

Responsibilities: 

  1.  Create load sheets and enter information into IVELES.
  2. Monitor email and Teams for special instructions and share updates with personnel.
  3. Create vehicle pull lists for loading.
  4. Coordinate with the loading crew to ensure vehicles are loaded onto the correct railcars.
  5.  Monitor vehicle status and report issues to management or other departments.
  6.  Maintain records according to company policy and AAR requirements.
  7.  Adapt to changing priorities and work conditions.
  8.  Enter data into CSX/TDSI and TTX systems.
  9.  Assist with rail performance audits.
  10.  Follow all safety and security procedures.
  11.  Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and customers.
  12.  Assist with urgent vehicle movement when required.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with urgent vehicle movement when required.
  2. Generate reports and maintain records as needed
  3. Receive and verify empty railcars in the CSX system and VELES
  4. Create rail manifests, complete load-outs, and finalize track sheets.
  5. Review QC reports and address identified issues
  6. Enter rail billing information, including waybills and maintenance data.
  7. Monitor vehicle availability and build additional loads when possible.

  3. Work in fast-paced enviornment.
  4. Interpersonal skills-Remain open to others' ideas and exhibit willingness to try new things.
  5. Oral communication - Be able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  6. Demonstrate group presentation skills and conduct meetings.
  7. Written communication - Edits work for spelling and grammar. Present numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
  8. Planning/organizing - Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
  9. Good computer skills to support report writing and processing.

Education: 

High School Diploma/GED (Required)

  • Able to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Ability to Bend, turn, and use peripherals as required to operate equipment safely within company standard operator procedures. 
  • Able to lift, stack, and/or pull products off shelves, as well as replenish product, from various heights weighing up to 50 lbs., depending on the location, throughout shift.
  • Able to work in a warehouse environment for up to 8-hour shifts, and any overtime hours if applicable.

The estimated base hourly rate is $21.80 an hour plus a $1.00 an hour premium for this position. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
