About the Job
COMPANY: Skyway Auto Parts Inc.
JOB TITLE: Vehicle Processor
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager and Facility Supervisor.
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt.
LOCATION: Skyway Auto Parts (637 Tifft Street Buffalo, NY 14220).
HOURS: 40 Hour Work Week.
COMPENSATION: $18-21/hr, based on experience & skills.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the vehicle processor is to safely and efficiently prepare vehicles to be placed in the yard for customers to pull parts from and prepare end of life vehicles to be sent to the shredder.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Clean and prepare the job site and yard in a tidy and safe manner.
  • Prepare vehicle for dismantling, removes and properly disposes of fluids such as gas or oil from vehicles, disconnect battery, airbags, and any other electrical components.
  • Remove tires from vehicles.
  • Removes and properly handles catalytic converters.
  • Maintains tools and equipment and regularly inspects for discrepancies.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, environmental regulations, and company policies while performing job duties.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use a variety of tools and machines: blowtorches, forklifts, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Being able to operate bobcats, forklifts, and loaders is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
  • Quick learner who can follow directions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to remain in and operate equipment in a shop or dismantling area.
  • Work in an area equipped with drain tables, forklifts, chain hoists, and other tools as needed.
  • Move about a salvage yard
  • Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and carry objects and materials up to 50lbs. with or without assistance.
  • At times outside work in the yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain) may be encountered.
  • Expected work hours are based on role and location.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed as determined by the employee's supervisor.
