Summary:

The Auto Processor supplies the production facility with a continuous flow of vehicles, inspects them to quality standards, and processes vehicles for shipment. The position also properly completes necessary documentation and uses computer terminals and handheld computerized scanning equipment when required.

This job is subject to mandatory overtime scheduling as necessary to accommodate customer requirements, ship schedules or other business needs.

Job Duties:

  • Safely and efficiently operates vehicles, including those with manual transmissions.
  • Communicates by telephone, two-way radio, and in-person in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner with all customers, guests, co-workers and other persons.
  • Inspects interior and exterior of vehicles to confirm proper operation of headlights, turn signals, brake lights, interior courtesy lamps, air-conditioning and heating, warning lamps, mirror adjustments, tire pressure, windshield wipers, vehicle damage, etc., prior to moving.
  • Monitors vehicle condition and records malfunctioning, or damaged items on work orders or survey documents.
  • Keeps interior of vehicles neat and orderly.
  • Accurately completes driver check sheets for each vehicle with all required information.
  • Uses a workstation computer to input and review vehicle processing information.
  • Reads, understands, and follows workstation work instructions to perform required tasks.
  • Reads, understands, and completes check sheets and forms, as well as reads and understands inter-office communications, schedules and other documents.
  • Keeps accurate counts of vehicles and parts as they are processed and received.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED)
  • 0-2 years of previous work experience in a related or applicable production field, preferably in a similar environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Able to understand verbal and written safety instructions in English.
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely.
  • Valid state issued driver’s license, driving record meeting minimum insurance requirements.
  • Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) required.
  • Able to competently and safely perform job duties described above.
  • Available for shift work as assigned; including overtime days, nights, weekends, and holidays. 

Physical Capabilities Required:

  • Reaching and pulling, including above shoulders and from ground level, reaching into vehicles.
  • Climbing ladder – 15 feet, Stepping up:  1-2 ft., uneven surface.
  • Standing on concrete/hard surface for long periods.
  • Bending forward at waist, bending sideways to 6-8” above floor, crouching.
  • Physical movement necessary to enter/exit and safely operate small and large vehicles.
  • Outdoor walking distances of up to 1200 feet on hard, uneven surface.
  • Outdoor work, including work in hot, cold, windy, icy and inclement weather conditions.
  • Lifting large/irregular objects of up to 50 lbs.
  • Kicking (chocks) with moderate force.
  • Manipulation of sharp cutting instruments, repetitive fine manipulation with fingers, turning at wrists.
  • Operation of computer, keyboarding, use of mouse.
  • Hold and control high pressure hose/nozzle, one/both hands, cold water, wet/slippery conditions (with gloves).
  • Use of carwash detergent, spot remover (with gloves).
