Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a Value Engineer to support the CBP Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) through AE Advisory Services and Construction Management Support (CMS). You will perform detailed analyses to optimize project performance while ensuring quality and compliance with federal standards.

This position is contingent upon the award of the contract. The period of performance for this project has a total of five (5) years, one (1) base year plus four (4) one (1) year option periods.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct value engineering studies for construction projects, renovations, and facility upgrades.
  • Identify cost-saving measures without compromising quality or functionality.
  • Analyze design submissions, contractor proposals, and change orders for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement recommended improvements.
  • Support preparation of cost estimates, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
  • Assist with claims management and project reporting related to cost and performance.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or 10 years equivalent construction experience in lieu of the bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in value engineering for construction projects gained from government contracts
  • Knowledge of construction cost estimating, scheduling, and project controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The client conducts an extensive background check, must be able to pass DHS security clearance to obtain Personal Identity Verification  (PIV) Card.
  • Flexible to work on site in the US Borders such as TX, MI, Washington State, NY, CA and NM.
