  • 72771 Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and with experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and education equivalent to a bachelor's or graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
  • Under general supervision, is responsible for registered nursing duties of average difficulty based on a wide range of circumstances and performs related work as required. Provides nursing care and procedures according to physicians' orders and nursing protocol.
  • Administers medication according to the physician's orders and protocol. Evaluates possible side effects and the overall effectiveness of medication. Performs BLS (Basic Life Support), CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and other emergency responses. Participates in emergency response settings.

  • Theย Viral Hepatitis (VH)ย Programย withinย theย Communicableย andย Environmentalย Diseasesย and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is currently hiring for a Jail Vaccination Team Registered Nurse position.

Primary jobย dutiesย willย include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and conduct vaccination clinics within county jails across East Tennessee
  • Educate justice-involved individuals about vaccines and viral hepatitis prevention
  • Properly store, transport, and administer vaccinations according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) handling guidance
  • Documents patient information according to standards of care
  • Completes patient health records (electronic and paper)
  • Track and report the number of vaccines administered at each clinic site and the educational materials provided
  • Participate in programmatic calls with project supervisor and/or viral hepatitis teams
  • Communicates with internal and external entities
  • Maintains patient health files and legal record of service

Registered Nurseย Minimumย Qualifications:

Educationย andย Experience:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license.

  • Position needed through 7/1/2026, staffing requirements to be re-evaluated for possible extension.
